Navin,
You did get screwed. I tried to send a coat back to Aero via UPS and was quoted 240 bucks!
Definitely USPS is the way to go- 45 bucks. They have those special boxes that if you can fit what you're shipping into them, then it's a flat rate. Also didn't have any problems with customs.
Can you guys compare the fit to the Blundstones?
I have a high arch and the Blundstones fit very tight across the top. If I wear them for more than a couple of hours, they really start to hurt.
The sleeve was longer in the Comet, which probably is the more "correct" length and the body length was a little bit shorter, just below the belt (my vintage is 26" from the collar seam and I think the Vanson is more like 25"). I wear a 40 R suit, 5'10, 165 lb, 34/35 length shirt and the 40 in...
So, I never really understood the attraction of vintage stuff. Why pay almost the same price or more for something that is 40 or 50 years old? Especially growing up, my parents were always newer is better!
I saw that one of the stores here in Seattle (Insurrection) was having a sale on their...
No charge on the resize. It was pretty obvious that it was too big.
Although shipping was 50 bucks. I guess one advantage of going via Mark is that shipping back to him would be cheaper.
Shearling is nice! I was wearing only a light sweater with my B6 in 10 degree F (-12 C) and it was warm!
Personally, I love the feeling of shearling and except for sporting activities, I would take it over down.
I remember your coat from last year and I thought that the collar was way too big! I think it looks much better now!
Great job on the weight loss- P90X?
You guys should give Langlitz a call. My cafe style jacket is my best fitting jacket. If you go to their website, it seems that there are not very many options of styles, but in reality there are many different options that you can have. They aren't cheap, but the leather quality and workmanship...
I don't think it matters when you order the jacket. I ordered on May 4th and was told 8 weeks. I got the Cheyenne this week!
Unfortunately, the fit was much too big, so I had to send it back for a re-size. Hopefully, it will work out this time.
Guys that have the RM Williams, how is the fit?
I have a pair of Blundstones, but I rarely wear them because they are tight on the top of my foot (high instep). Are the RM Williams roomier?
It's a Lanlitz, not an aero and it's cowhide, not HH.
Your'e right, there does seem to be a heavy coating on it. These pictures are when the jacket is pretty new. As the jacket ages, the coating seems to wear off and the brown color seems to peel off showing black underneath. These areas then...
When you first get the jacket, it really is underwhelming. The leather,as you said, is quite flat without much graining. It looks really plastic like!
However with time, the leather graining really comes out and develops a lot of character. The leather really is first rate.
So, seeing this I couldn't resist buying some Wesco factory seconds JH classics.
Wow, this shoe is HEAVY and stiff, but paradoxically, it's very comfortable. I find the shoe to fit a little big. It fits very well with heavy socks, but with normal thickness socks, they slide a little.

Navin,
I have the cedar hanger and it's quite nice, although pricey. It's nice and wide in the shoulder and well made.
The cedar does nothing to the coat smell. Just keeps away the moths!
Steve
It's a beautiful vintage styled jacket, but not really that functional for riding (the wind blowing up my back and up the sleeves would drive me crazy) . That being said, if you like the style- great!
