Great story Navin! I would restore the jacket, but hold off on the dying. Try some nice leather cleaner/conditioner (Pecards, etc) and see how it does. If you still don't like it, you can re-dye it later!

Wow, that is frustrating. After 3 months of waiting, I bailed on my Highwayman and got a jacket from Langlitz. I really don't mind waiting, but I like a definite time frame. Although Mark is great, I don't think that he has any idea of when the actual delivery time will be.
Too bad, since I...
I disagree that black leather went out of fashion in the eighties! To me, black leather is a classic look.
Black cars are not tough sells. Black is almost consistently in the top 3 of colors sold. Last year it was number two behind white.
This is from Mark Moye's ebay listings:
Using a simple cloth tape measure (bought most anywhere for about a dollar) and doing it yourself usually works best for us.
Wearing a normal shirt, take your measurements under armpits, around fullest part of chest and shoulder blades.
For us to...
The Cascade is 900 (no sales tax and includes shipping), so about 100 more than the Aero. Yes, FQHH is unique, so you have to factor that in, but the Langlitz cowhide is so nice. The coat is made from one hide and builds so much character over time.
In terms of the lining, I went with their...
Yes, looking at the website or catalog (Peacoat, the catalog is still very minimal), you would think that they do only a few styles of jackets.
I emailed them a picture of the Highwayman and asked if they could do a jacket that was similar in style. They replied that it would be no problem as...
You can get horsehide with Langlitz, but I think it's about a thousand dollar option! Not sure exactly why.
This brown and black have no upcharge. They do have a big selection of colors, but it costs a extra hundred.
In terms of fit, both my jackets were exactly on. My Aero fits well, but...
I originally had an Aero Highwayman on order, but I could never get an answer on when the jacket would be ready. I remember reading that some people had waited 6 months for theirs and I didn't want to wait till the fall to get my jacket! I talked to the guys at Langlitz and gave them a...
Now that Spring is on the way, I was wondering how you guys store your leather coats. Do you keep them hung? It would seem that hanging them for such a prolonged time might affect the shoulders. I remember reading that Peacoat just piles them on the floor in the closet.
Thanks
South,
I ordered a Cascade with a straight zip, no zippers on cuffs, no zippers on pockets, straight back, no wind flap, no action back, dress collar (no lapels), a 1 inch band around the waist, and in brown.
Supposed to be done by the 24th, but Scott said they were sewing it last week, so I...
South,
Give Scott at Langlitz a call or email. They pretty much can do anything you want. I just ordered a Cascade, but have it looking a lot like the Highwayman. Also, they keep your measurements, so it should be super easy for you to order again.
I've seen some padded Langlitz and they are less boxy than some. http://www.motorcycle.com/events/mo-on-tour-okanogan-co-part-three-3593.html
Saying that, if the jacket isn't for riding, than I would opt out of the padding.
Just wondering the reasoning behind the short flap. It would seem to me that the use of a wind flap is more important up higher.
Maybe just to make it less restrictive?
Wow, for 800 bucks, I think you could do better [huh]. Aero for 800 and Langlitz for 900- probably around the same price after sales tax included.
On a side note, why is the wind flap only to chest height?
Just saw that you paid significantly less for the jacket. Cheers!
I just ordered another jacket from Langlitz and they were more than happy to work with me. Ended up with a "Cascade", but with quite a few changes.
I know you want HH, but their cowhide is outstanding. Also, the fit is like a glove.
