Nice jacket! I keep on having bad thoughts about the Pegasus trench coat, and this isn't helping...
Incidentally, another source for female motorcycle leathers and jackets is Hideout here in the UK. Their style is more modern and functional than Pegasus's though.
Look for someone who does repairs and modifications to motorcycle leathers. There are a few places in the UK, and I'm sure if you asked on bike forums then someone could point you in the right direction.
A quick Google brought up a repair shop above Shady Jack's Saloon, and Starz Leathers in...
I wear a two piece BKS Leather suit. It's basically this design without the chest press-studs for pinning back the collar and none of the logos. The leather is the thickest steerhide they do.
If you fall off a bike then this is what you want to be wearing. In fact, when I got knocked off in...
Thanks Cuthbert.
I've seen the Lewis jackets, albeit briefly. I think that some of the detailing is nicer than on the Aeros, but they don't feel as robust. :)
I should probably take another trip to their shop sometime.
Just a quick question Cuthbert: How does the Pegasus compare to an Aero in terms of finish and general quality?
The jackets look fantastic on the website, and it sounds like you're very happy with yours, so it can't be that bad. :)
I can get where you're coming from Aether. Most modern bike gear is a bit too Power Ranger...
Did you take a look at the Hideout Brando jacket? That's fairly old school in its looks, but built around the latest and greatest protection.
Goat hide is pretty tough, and up there with horse...
Why not give one of the small volume UK bike leather manufacturers a try?
BKS used to do a Lancer style. I'm not sure if it's still offered, but they could probably run one off for you.
Just don't look too closely at the prices... :eeek:
Hideout sell the Brando Jacket which they...
Joel, take a look at the Aero Ace Cafe jackets. They have double straps on the waist band, and that looks a lot better than the single strap on a standard jacket.
HectorTorta, Forcefield armour is good stuff. I came off a bike at 30 mph (I know, must try harder :D), and I didn't feel a thing...
I don't know if it's any help, but there's a Red Wing store in Amsterdam. I've done day trips going the other way (e.g. to Cologne / Köln), so it should be possible from where you are in Germany.
And whilst you're there you could check out somewhere like Tenue de Nîmes and the Denham Denim...
If by SASS you're referring to Special Air Sea Services then it's worth pointing out that they make a lot of their products up to order, in much the same way that our friends at Aero do.
As a suggestion, why not source a few metres of Ventile, and see if they'll run up a smock from your own fabric?
I know that John has altered patterns in the past to fit people with bigger shoulders, so he might be able to go up a size or two.
Failing that, diet and hit the gym. :)
Rapha do a Tweed softshell jacket for cyclists. What you need to do is convince someone like Musto to do a range of sailing wear in that fabric.
There used to be a company in Scotland called Slioch that produced bespoke Gore Tex mountain clothing. If they were still open then you might have...
Just bumping this up again, but Jules B (a small chain of fashion shops in the North of England) have the Barbour leather International and Vintage International motorcycle jackets in their sale.
Sizes are restricted to Small, Medium and Large. So if you're of a proper, manly build like me...
I'd agree, Seb, only I reckoned that the Belstaffs were worth highlighting as an alternative to the traditional biker jacket, which the OP seemed keen to avoid.
So rather than being a suggestion, think of them as another option.
The Belstaff Pure Motorcycle collection contains a number of retro-styled jackets that are designed for riding bikes, and most (if not all) are armoured.
I like the (unarmoured) Ariel.
Belstaff also make the Mojave. If you buy one, make sure you get the bike version, as the fashion one...
The Morgan Three Wheeler is making a comeback. Shark teeth are strictly optional. :D
More details at Pistonheads, and the official site should go fully live in a few days.
If you're looking for traditionally styled motorcycle boots then Altberg do the Clubman Classic (particularly the buckled version).
They're made out of thick leather, and have pretty much the most solid sole unit fitted to any bike boots, which provides a huge amount of crush protection...
I stumbled across Lodger shoes on a blog a couple of weeks ago, and took a look at their range at their shop on Clifford Street in London.
If you go looking for it, they're in the Lutwyche & Lodger store. I missed it the first time I went past.
The Lodger style seems to be classic with a...
There's a bunch of '30s and '40s cars from the Captain America movie up for auction in the UK at the start of March. The online catalogue is here, and I put a thread up in the Vintage Finds forum.
I figured that 51 cars of this era don't come up that often, particularly in the UK, and I'd...
Brooklands are selling a few cars from Captain America...
I've put a thread in the Vintage Finds and Deals forum, and the catalogue can be viewed here.
I want the Buick Eight Sedanette. :)
