Two Extra Quality Scott & Co. Grey Bowlers side by side to show the color difference. The one on the left is silverbelly, right is a carbon grey with a little extra crown height.
Yea it was more wishful thinking I suppose. The seller said it was in amazing condition and I wouldnt want to be the one to alter that.
That old velour homburg really is something else. Understandable but a shame that more beauties like that dont pop up like that on ebay.
Yes, I believe its the same model hat, the one sent your way was made for the Italian market though. I think this ones a size 58 too. It's marked as 1799 Durit.
I'm considering sending it to Bob at Black Sheep, that velour homburg you posted is without a doubt one of the coolest hats i've seen...
Late to the party but wanted to congratulate you HatsRme, on the addition to the family sir.
This was yesterdays pic, a blue heather bowler from Black Sheep Hatworks.
I almost bid on it the first time it was listed as being 58-59 cm. It'll more than likely be a bit too small, but i'm just keeping my fingers that just perhaps they were off on their measurements again in my favor.

That black cherry one really...
Couldnt be more happy with the both of them, the grey one is an older example looking like 30's or 40's.
The one in black cherry/maroon looks like 50/60's but is very well made, it's identical in blocking as a brown Herbert Johnson bowler I used to own.
So this one is a bit odd. It doesn't appear to have been converted from a top hat to bowler. But its very clearly two different colors of silk plush or beaver fur. the bottom is a dark brown, the top is more often seen black. It looks like it was repaired at some point by someone other than...
i'll have to check when it arrives but from a close up pic of the sweat stitching it looks original. i'll check underneath the cloth sweatband for any remnants of a previous one.
i'm pretty sure its a silk finish but the seller described it as beaver.
