If he is going to eliminate the one advantage (perceived, mind you, since I wouldn't want all of my jackets made of CXL) Aero has, then he might as well go to Johnson...

    I don't see why you would. You can get custom anything (including a design with an Aero jacket as a starting point) from Johnson Leathers of San Francisco for half the price and better service. Just my opinion, owning both.

    Never tried the lightbulb trick. Sounds risky. A small shim, like the dollar bill, won't noticeably deform your hat or sweatband.

    Will they take returns on sale items? With a sale price north of $1300, I'd say get a custom jacket from Johnson Leather of SF for about half that or for the same outlay go custom with Thurston.
