I would if I had one. I like the WWII watches. But I am interested in the watches with the metal over
the crystal. I do have one of those- would have been my grandfather's. He served in WWI. I may have
to get it restored. Didn't know what it was.
It's funny to have this conversation in the context of a thread about a Nubuck jacket...
They have a ton of choices and they change over time. Natural product you know.
Very nice. I have a pair of their boots with the black tie leather and I like it a lot. Tough stuff, low maintenance, looks great
even when it takes a beating.
But it seems like you ended up with new boots- all new leather, etc. Did they charge less than a new pair?
Can you clarify that statement? What's your experience with the leather they provide? Have you been in the store to
see the selection? They don't always have CXL, but often they can get it. But that's really not the only nice leather
in the world. I'm pretty picky and I've always been...
Honestly I don't get it. For that money you can get the custom fit, custom design jacket of your dreams, made from
just about any hide in the store at Johnson Leathers. I don't mean to be a shill for those guys, but when I see the price
tags on the other guys I have to scratch my head.
That...
Almost never, here in the SF Bay Area. Thinking of selling my WPG (originally from Spitfire) some time soon if
anyone is looking for a rather large one.
tl;dr
Time is money. Jackets made slowly are nicer, but cost more. We now have faster sewing machines and polyester thread, which is a bit faster
and stronger. Leather heavier than 2.5 oz is too stiff. He makes up his own designs.
Interesting. Mine has a leather sweatband and, as you'll note in the thread below (see hat #3), sat in that box
for around 50 years and then again a few more times.

Why do you say that? Do we have any proof that the box was just a shipping box
and that people were supposed to remove the hat? The one I have I keep in the box.
Doesn't take long (a bit of steam helps) for it to pop back into shape. Rolling it and
putting it in the box sure makes it easy to...
I enjoy reading about austerity and self-control from people here who I know have more top end leather jackets than the average
person could imagine owning. It's a matter of scale.
For some of us, I think, we need to get a lot of jackets or hats or watches just to learn about them, about...
Nice jacket, good fit! I'd spend $50 just for that gorgeous zipped inside pocket!
I think you should send a couple of photos to Alan at Johnson Leathers to see if
he either knows or built it. Assuming he's not lurking here and can contact you
directly.
