crazy
It gets even more amazing...you got that online for that price?
I don't bother looking on the bay anymore for akubras as they have gone silly with the prices being paid last time I looked
99c?
Who you calling lucky?
Less than a buck for that!
It's good to know they are still out there and the op-shops haven't been taken over completely by frustrated antique dealers.

mojo
It was actually $A8 but I put things in US$ for the benefit of our esteemed OS brethren
To match my powers, you might like to invest in some John the Conqueroo, monkey bone and greenstone for yo mojo bag, which I, as all musicians should, carry in my bass case...it covers all tings and...
Adolf liked children and small dogs...
I was always fascinated by the fact that the Nazis were opposed to cruelty to animals and I believe one of their first acts of legislation was to outlaw vivisection. They also passed many laws protecting the forests from logging....and he was a vegetarian...
Still waiting........

and I found a copy of this the other day too...still holds its own.

Something was calling me today, so I headed up the coast and picked this Akubra Stewart up for $5...it's pre-metric and virtually unworn, nice cavanagh edge too, a bit stingy but Ah like it!
Wear it
The main thing is...and this is important (to some of us anyway): you can be sure you won't run into anyone else wearing one when you're out and about....I think it looks good.
selling air
I used to sell space in the rock press, as well as design the ads, lay 'em out (with a scalpel and roller), and write the advertorial as well, I remember my main trick on the phone was to jam a cigarette in one earhole to shut off any outside interference and office noise so you...
DOWN market
I had the misfortune to work in a big casino recently: anyone in a tux would have had rocks thrown at them by the barefoot troglodytes at the tables or had it vomited on by the teenagers lying in the gutter in their own urine at the entrance...Casino Royale it WEREN'T....then again...
I'd imagine that to be 50's at the latest, and I saw something similar on the bay for about $500 recently, I'd get out my quickunpick and restore it to original condition mahself!
BTW Where did the Baron go?
pedantry alert
That can't have been too hard to do really, most of the shots are from Secret of the Incas, which everyone knows was one of, if not the, main influences on the whole Indy schtick. His hat was a classic Aussie digger's hat as well apparently, a nice early check for us there!
the south is calling
Just a note to melburnians I'm looking at doing some gigs down there at the Blue Diamond and Cherry Club in November, will post here when tour is confirmed.
After following the Duke K thread, I think that this late 40's (?) Pelaco I picked up recently is equally as impressive, far more culturally significant to me, and probably even rarer than anything Hawaiian round these parts. I've never seen the like, and the artwork reminds me of an Australian...
go to hawaii
The only thing that is an known unknown (how Rumsfeldian) variable here is the spelling of "hawaiian', it is wrong, this can be a factor: I recently picked up on ebay a quite nice shirt very cheaply .. Waikiki Sports in fact, that had that same misspelling, and because no-one else...
amazing
I can't believe that passed in, I've seem them go for 3 times that, but the market is what the market will bear so that's what it's worth now...wish I'd seen it when it was listed.
You are quite correct of course, I should not have worn a button-down collar with such a suit, but as it was from a Jermyn St shirtmaker I allowed some vestigial snobbery to overrule such restrictions in my search for a special colour combination...a punk statement perhaps? :p
