I danced with a girl who danced with a man.....
Like the man said above I reckon Edwardian, I can imagine the legendary Bertie swanning about in one, although I think he was a bit more portly than the dandies illustrated!
Victor Victoria
I seem to remember a film about the Charge of the Light Brigade where the manservant was using his knee to force some bloated colonel or lord into a corset, so they were definitely around for men in Victorian times
About 30 years ago I decided I wanted one, and consulted a tailor, he had no patterns so I hunted up this one at the library and photocopied it, but I think something happened like my father had a heart attack and I had to move home in a hurry or something like that so it just fell off the...
So I got the 40's leather coat I posted recently, a bit too small but in EXCELLENT condition, except for one thing, the belt, I have another coat like it, and the old brown belt on it is original issue, but the one that arrived with this coat is black, not brown, aha I think, I just happen to...
Acid Rain?
I've never seen or heard of red-rot, and I live in a very humid environment where you have to watch all leather garments for mould, so could it be an industrial pollution thing?
Picked up this probably 50's white Bowls hat the other day...absolutely mint, never worn, and nice whitened straw. not polypropylene like so many you find of varying vintages, absolutely stunning in its raw but stylish beauty, did I mention it cost me all of $1......only thing is...it's TOO...
Sauza
Conmemorativo for sure, used to drink it a lot, gone back to vodka or more specifically, Zubrowka, these days tho, just unsurpassed in my view, (and less of a headache if you have too much).
This is the 2nd one of these I've found in the last 6 months or so,
a bit of restoration for this and the better of the two goes in the cupboard, and someone pays a lot for the other one at my stall.

ridiculous
Don't worry about the Soviets who were traitors, Stalin also apparently ordered the deaths of large numbers of partisans who'd fought to defend their local areas on the basis that they had become too independent of central authority....hard to imagine the mindset isn't it........
crimewriters
I know Pete, being one of the brotherhood of Aussie crimewriters

he's also a musician of some repute.
shirley baby
Has she done anything lately? The last I remember from her was The Rhythm Divine with Yello about 20 years ago, and History Repeating with the Propellerheads about 10 years later, so she's well overdue for another one.
Two dates
To clarify, in Australia we celebrate ANZAC day, April 25 which is the date of the Gallipoli landings, and it's a public holiday with veteran's marches and religious services in every town and city. Remembrance day Nov 11th is observed with the laying of wreaths and religious...
Tram ways
This is the doco that covers it
http://www.newday.com/films/Taken_for_a_Ride.html
I remember when they got rid of trams where I lived, no reason at all to the outsider, they ran at a huge profit, but my local bus repair shop, a one shed operation, somehow got the contract for the...
mo jazz
Saw Charlie Haden the other night, I'm not a huge jazz fan but it was pretty good, put it this way, 90 minutes went in a flash and I wanted more, which I can't say for most bebop etc.
The dim dark
Well I went to a catholic school in Qld, in 1961, and I remember bashing as what you got from the priests and nuns for very little provocation at all, especially if our hats weren't BLOCKED correctly...lol
As I might have stated before, the PENCIL BLOCK being the most favoured by...
