what a steal. wow. I think I'm good in this department, but it's tempting. What is it with the paint stains too on these kinds of jackets LOL. I swear, about half my Cals had various paint stains. I guess it's law enforcement, bikers, and painters who rock this style.
thanks! I think, but I dont know, maybe the back length? It's a weird one. I'm 6'0 and no doubt the jacket is a shorter style. Even on the Vanson website they say so. But it doesn't fit as short as the measurements say. One of my other Cals was 24 and it fit the same. So don't know what...
you shouldn't have to do this because it's an expensive jacket that you bought new, but sometimes it's just easier knocking things out yourself.
wet the epaulette, not like dripping wet, but thorough. Place a book or something flat on top. Obviously not a paperback or anything that will...
I can't tell you how many times I've come close to buying one of these. My .02, I think it's the best looking jacket from the front. Everything just perfect. Every time I see one, I start contemplating again and start the Ebay searches. I'm just not a fan of the back. I like something more...
I wouldn't get a new Vanson C2 with the new leather. I do have an older vintage one for sale, but it's going to be too big for you unfortunately. I'm guessing you need like a 19 ptp, and mine has a 22.
you said you ordered that schott one I attached right? Seeing your front shot in the LL...
I was eyeing that jacket a lot, still am LOL. If I'm being honest, you need to lose a few pounds to have a perfect fit in it, especially just to ease up some of the tension in the back. But I think it's pretty close for a true racer fit. Also it doesn't have those usual Aero neck lines which...
Nice. I got about a year as I just signed up a couple weeks ago. Although hoping now that his shop is set up, he'll start cranking them out. I'll probably change my mind 10 times before then LOL, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with some kind of Buco inspired j82/j24L, throw in some...
fantastic. please post pics when you get. I'm doing something with Greg next year. Going to be a padded cross zip of some sort. Trying to get a sense of the various patterns, especially on the back.
Gwen from Cal Leathers told me they can do the padding 3 ways. The usual puffed out, one...
you didn't need to give it pecards before the wash, but that's ok. Personally, I would put it on a hangar so air circulates better. But I think it'll be fine on the towel. Maybe rotate once or twice a day. If the jacket isn't too fragile, I'd put it on spin cycle to get out the extra water...
LOL, 27 ptp, made for Lawrence Taylor. It's a nice one. Never seen cuffs like that on a Cal. Probably 1960s from the tear drop pulls. Unique combo straight zip with gussets. With the belt, that thing might weigh 15lbs though if it's like a size 50.
Fantastic thread with a ton of info. It's something that I tried to do when I started the Five Star thread, but to be honest, I had no clue what I was doing back then LOL. Although that thread has turned into a mega thread :p, you just need to dig more to find the info.
The amount of info and...
not my style, but I can definitely appreciate the work. Cool details and shapes. I wonder what order number this was LOL. He should make a note when posting the pictures.
Yep, Dawn. Just like a half teaspoon or so in a 5 gallon bucket. And if liner is the main issue, once wet, I'd apply a little extra on your hand and then rub down to a lather.
Jacket is new? I'd give it a few wears before doing anything. I agree the sleeves are long. Some on here will argue between 1-3 inches long LOL. I'd let some creases form, that divet in the elbow, etc. You still probably going to need something, but I would think closer to 1 to 1.5 when all...
I'd wash in a bath tub or bucket. It's kind of cool to see the color of the water too
You could do washing machine, but like others mentioned, delicate cycle, preferably non agitator. you want to let it soak though. that's why I like the bucket. I can do a proper wash, then lighter...
If this is anything like my 118, it's going to be fire... But if you ride motorcycles, I'd suggest 600 series leather over the 100 or 500.

LA store is great. And really good BBQ joint a few doors down-- Bludso's
I have a LL Lightning coming hopefully really soon. I got on the tail end of the flurry of activity here and I think the wait times jumped, but hopefully this week or next. So I can't comment on the LL quality, but...
