Here is an old yeddo boater that I purchased many years ago. It was too inexpensive to pass up though I couldn't wear it... until I slowly coaxed it up two sizes. Not in perfect condition, but very light and comfortable with a lovely textured silk liner.
A dressy straw with similar sewn plait construction to the rolled brim Dobbs posted the other day, but this one is stiff as a ...boater. From a store located in the old Pennsylvania Station, c.1920s.
That's a real gem Garrett. I know there is not much summer wear in this thread, but I love this hat so and it's dressy (I wore it to my daughter's daytime summer wedding)... with some guidance from Brad Bower's pages on dating Dobbs hats by the liner imprint, likely 1922-1925.
Bought this Royal Stetson to wear on the Queen's yacht... but still waiting for the invitation. Lovely construction on a late 1930s boater. Note the hidden stitching used on the sweatband.
