    The School of Hard Knox

I have had a couple with Comfit sweats and I saw no evidence of foam having ever been there in the rippled area.

    Hat making?? Learning Millinery..

I was under the impression that the burning was to do the loose fuzz removal and the fuel was denatured alcohol in the hat body stiffener mix, shellac and denatured alcohol is one way but there is likely a commercial product that is similar. When I have seen videos it looks like an alcohol flame...

Show Us Your Vintage Hat Store

That first Raytown Plaza pic has a load of vehicles in it that you'd definitely wear a fedora while you drove them.

All You Need to Know About Hat Etiquette

In true ranching-heavy parts of TX, and other states too, you will see men in restaurants with white as snow foreheads and scalps and their skin fades to leathery texture as you get to the necks and top of chest as it appears in the part of the shirt. Their hair has the obvious smash from...

    Western, anyone?

Ego is the enemy of relations with animals (people too). There is a part of all of us that says, "when I catch that damned horse I'll teach him not to run from me!" and when the horse is finally caught you slap him or jerk on his halter or something else that some might think is a disciplinary...

    Hatband do's and don'ts

I must be an abused spouse. Every time I look through topics and see this one my brain sees it as "Husband do's and don'ts"......

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Eric, You and a few others have to have a time machine. I would expect these 50+ year old hats to have more aging if they were locked in a climate controlled storage building and the boxes were never opened. This is but another incredible example of a hat that looks like it was just purchased...

    The Open Road Guild

I am with you. 2 1/2 and less look like a bottle cap on my head. I'm sure it is because I wear 4 1/2 to 4 3/4 brim westerns these days but the person I see in the mirror when wearing a 2 3/8 brim looks goofy.

    Open Road homburg

I think calling it the "Doc Adams" after the doc off Gunsmoke is appropriate. If you look at his hat from the first seasons it looked like a hybrid Open Road meets Homburg.

    South Africaner Fedora

Balch Springs...How do you avoid sweating? On some summer days in DFW you break a sweat walking over to turn down the thermostat to get the room cooler. At least with a good lid you look good sweating.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

I think I will call 2 inches a frugal brim with 1 7/8 and less being stingy.
