What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Drone down view of less than finely pounced felt with a hair clump defect. Close view perspective fails to show brim.

What to wear with a fedora....

Since hats are not mainstream norm these days you will appear to the uninformed and dense to be wacky or oddball. To many others you will be that guy with panache and chutzpah to look great and opt for an accessory they wish they had the courage to wear. I think the silver belly and panama hats...

"western weight" is a bit of misnomer. Lots of western hats have the same felt thickness as fedoras. The amount of shellac is increased in westerns to let them have the full steam and shape feature. I have a couple of fedoras that have thick felt but little or no shellac and are malleable. I...

    M.C. Gannon Hat Company

I am borderline OCD, certified squirrelly. Every car or truck I have ever bought got door, trunk, hood or bed alignments done by me because I know the dealer would never do it to my satisfaction. My Gannon has straight stitching on the brim edge binding, no loose threads, and was excellent in...

Art Fawcett VS Hall of Fame

Is the color more blue in person? The view on my screen makes it grey with no hint of blue.

    Western, anyone?

I think you're right on early 60's. I don't think the Byer-Rolnick name was on the hats even in the early 70's

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Love that Marathon. The crown shape and height and snapped brim has always been THE classic fedora hat and look.

    Western, anyone?

I visited Ponderosa Ranch in 1975 or 1976. I recall that they had hats that were the copies of the TV show characters and it wasn't a typical western store. The shirts that weren't T shirts were like what the characters wore also. Not at all unusual for attractions like that, very much in line...

Same here. I have two granite westerns. The first is more charcoal with some green hue in it and the second is the lighter with brown hue. Apparently the dye comes from different parts of different rock formations too.

    Western, anyone?

In addition to cars I should have kept, I can now see hats from my past I should have taken better care of. The ones my relatives gave me when they took note of me being a hat guy when I was 11 or 12 that I wrecked and discarded make me sad.

DO termites eat hats? I thought supertermites were your real creatures to be aware of.

    Clear Beaver Stetson 100

Odd words those two. Silver belly is a color and clear is a process or quality that can be different colors and different beaver or nutria percentages. Silver belly as a color has a range even within the same manufacturer. Some SB is light gray with the slightest hint of some tan and others so...

    It's Kentucky Derby weekend!

I didn't record or capture stills but it looked like Von Miller and Tom Brady were in Nick Fouquet hats.

    5 seconds............which hat ?

VS charcoal gray with black ribbon, it goes with anything and everything and fits so well and feels so good doing it.

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

I went to the local hardware store Monday and wore a ball cap instead of a hat as usual. The guy that waited on me asked where my hat was. The lady at the register told me that everyone wears a cap but I need to keep wearing one of my hats. SO I'd have to say once again that I get more comments...

You damn sure took that sow's ear and made a silk purse out of it. Great work!
