    The Tweed Suit

The dry cleaners helped a bit and so did "Drycleaners Secret." However, the suit still has too much odor for my taste. It seemed to get much better (almost entirely better) and now the musty smell seems to be fighting back. I read somewhere that "professional wet cleaning" can help to reduce...

A man of health, a hero who leads a team at Body Control A record for the kids! Don't you wish you had a suit like this? I actually have this album at home and it's still scary. Barry

    Akubra Stylemaster in Acorn Fawn

It has a tapered crown but it's not as extreme as some of the other Akubra hats. Here is a picture of the Stylemaster next to my Midnight Blue fedora (by Art Fawcett). Barry

    Akubra Stylemaster in Acorn Fawn

Thank you all for the nice comments. Jake, I didn't notice the word featherweight on the hat. I took another photo outdoors. It's overcast today and raining (I just was out this AM for a bit) but it does look a little bit lighter. I think the outdoor photo is much more accurate. I...

    Akubra Stylemaster in Acorn Fawn

This came today. The felt was much softer than the Akuba Fed I recieved but it's still a bit stiff. I used the foam adjusters for a tighter fit. I like this hat. Color: Acorn Brim: 2.5 (maybe 2 3/8) Crown: About 4 3/4

john paul stevens Any idea on the length of Justice Stevens' bat-wing bowtie? I can never tie mine that long. Maybe my ties are too short for that. Justice Stevens Barry

    Cufflinks and Shirt Studs.

cufflinks I'm slowly purchasing new clothes (shirt, ties, suits) since I'm starting a new career. Most of my old work clothes do not fit so well anymore and also my new job will most likely require business dress. Here are some cufflinks I picked up on E-bay. I usually wear silk knots but...

    Ina Ray Hutton Video

Thanks! Now at least I know they were released from more than one source and I had a chance to listen to them again. I might wind up purchasing a couple different releases - I wonder if the videos I saw were someone's personal compilation. Barry

Improving Communities: What do you do?

You are right. They are slowing down a bit. The "clubs" have been here for a long, long time. I think they are realizing that times are changing. Robert Hanssen, the spy for the Soviet Union, met his lady friend at the club on my side of the street. About two blocks north? The Russian...

Improving Communities: What do you do?

I don't do enough. I need to get involved with DC Public Libraries and also my neighborhood association. My neighborhood in DC once had a number of little independent shops. I could walk down to the street and pick up a snack, soda or a six-pack from a little market. The owner was...

My humble entry into fountain-pen life

John, Thanks. I am going to check out those sites. I think that I saw one already but I'll go back and look again. I did go to a local pen shop but they didn't seem to have much advice. I think I wound up talking to the wrong salesperson. There's one really young guy in the store who...

Calling All Mods! Calling All Mods!

There's also Deadenders...another Mod themed graphic novel. Haven't read it yet. Maybe I'll give it a shot. I typically stick to other genres within "sequential art" (comics :)).

My humble entry into fountain-pen life

left handed? I usually use rollerballs but now would like to try a fountain pen again. I'm a lefty and an overwriter and I also write at a 40% angle. I push hard when I write. A pen shop owner told to find a pen with a SMOOTH nib. He didn't recommend any nib grinding based on what I told...

Choosing Ink for the fountain pen.

Noodler's Legal Lapis... To me it has sort of a blue black with (according to the seller) a vintage look about it. I ordered some for my refillable ink ball pen (MEGA). Legal Lapis at Pendemonium Barry
