The suit came today and the trousers fit like a charm - a bit long as I expected but it fits well in the legs and waist. I was worried the rise would be too long as I typically do well with somewhat of a shorter rise. The side adjusters are great. The jacket fits decently. The shoulders a...
My sister lived there for a while. We found a good place for food but and the duck is especially good. My friend said the food is Taiwanese and Cantonese. I haven't been in almost a year now. Hopefully it hasn't changed. It's called Oriental Garden and its on Elizabeth Street.

My post is somewhat off topic but this thread makes me wish I had some pictures of my grandparent's old clothing store. Now, it wasn't a big department store but they sold men's clothing and then later on women's clothing. They had a credit system - you put money down on your clothes and then...
I was at an Art Deco society meeting tonight and someone showed videos of Ina Ray Hutton and her Melodeans. It was great! Apparently, the video came out sometime in the early 1980's.
Anyone know about this tape or if it was part of a series? I didn't have a chance to ask the guy who...
I'm not much of a dancer but I really do enjoy the music.
One of these days I'll make it to Glen Echo, hopefully when The LaSalle Dance Orchestra is there.
The pictures!
This is my only shot of the old crown. I didn't like the crown so I reshaped it after a little steaming. It was very easy to reshape.
The new crown...

The inside has a black sweat and a white lining. It doesn't reproduce well.

I will get some photos up. I might put in the classifieds section or just bring it to QM if someone wants it. They knocked off about 15% due to a sale too.

Yep, that's it. The "seal" or whatever it would be called between the edge of the folded over part meets the rest of the brim of the hat is very, very smooth.
I just might pick it up.

I would say the edge was folded over but it's much nicer than that. It's not stitched, that's for sure. It's almost rolled back over onto the felt and it's very smooth almost like a little bump in the felt.

Did Brooks sell fedoras with a Cavanagh Edge?
I've only seen pictures of the Cavanagh edge, sad to say. I am down in Georgetown now and came across one. It's 7 1/8, short brim and it is grey with a black sweat. The edge looks like one to me based on the photos I've seen.
They are asking $45...
I accidently dropped mine on my hardwood flooring. It rolled right on the edge of the brim and the hat carved a two foot scrape in my beautiful Kahrs cherry floors.
Just kidding :)
:o
Wow Salv.
I'll have a tell my friends here in the US. My US "mod" friends made me a bunch of tapes feature the bands I listed. Now, not the Who or anything like that, but certainly the others.
Was my friend's statement that there were bands the Mods listened to and then bands featuring...
The Lock Ober
There's a restuarant in Boston called the Lock-Ober. They have little "vintage" menus that you can pick up and take home - at least they did several years back. It has changed hands some time ago.
I guess if we ever have a FL event in Boston the Lock-Ober would be on the list...
Mod R&B
A few of my favorites are the Steampacket (iTunes gave them a harsh review) and Chris Farlowe. Chris Farlowe was great! Check out the Chris Farlowe 60's R&B Years CD. I also like the Action and the Creation.
Voodoo! :)
A somewhat recent Mod band? The Loved Ones, no doubt.
