Only too often I find old leather jackets that are in decent condition and fit me, but have been ruined by having had godawful "art" work painted onto them, typically very large designs on the back, but surprisingly often very bad renderings of USAAF insignia very obviously done very recently...
A spectacular and rare British fedora from 1939 (date label under sweatband). It was made by Glyn of Old Bond Street, London, and sold by the famous Berteil of Paris. The felt is spectacular, soft and pliable. The colour is light grey with black 1.5" ribbon.
It could do with some steaming etc...

Continuing the theme of threads devoted to the great vintage leather manufactories, I thought a thread on the company with IMO the greatest name of any - Blatt - would be worthwhile. I own a Blatt jacket from the late 40s, and will upload pics when I get some in the next couple days.
Anyone...
Mainly thanks to Dinerman, there are various thread or blog posts dedicated to the great leather companies of the 30s-50s. As yet, I don't know of one for S. H. Knopf Mfg. Co. of Boston, MA. I don't know much about this company, and I haven't seen many of their jackets. But, behind Blatt of...
I offer for sale these two wonderful French caps. The brand name is "Hélice Club". Look at that liner logo! They are both marked as to size - one is a 58cm (approx US 7 1/4), the other 59cm (approx US 7 3/8) and appear to fit true to size. The base colour on these caps is a dusty blue/grey and...
This is from the 40s, maybe earlier. Not 60s as stated by seller. Can't get any hint on country of origin from the photos, but prob British. You'll want to ask for an accurate pit-to-pit measure on the jacket, but the arms seem pretty long. Maybe a rare one for a tall chap...
2 very nice old Harris Tweed jackets, one quite big, from the Cinetex guys in Germany.
Large. Would be a good idea to ask for a picture of the Harris Tweed label to ensure correct age...
What looks like a nice repro of one of the Rodeo Ben styles, elastic shoulder straps and all. marked a size XL. BIN for £30 is a damn good deal. I got pictures of the label and elastic straps from the seller. The label is the white Blue Bell label, and shows the size XL and "Sanforized". the...
For anyone who doesn't know, Varusteleka.fi is one of the better online surplus stores. They have a lot of old stuff and at very good prices. I'm going to be placing an order at the beginning of October, and I'd like to see if anyone else in the UK would like to group together to put in an...
Anyone seen the first episode? How's the wardrobe (set in 1919, Birmingham UK)?
I'll be watching it on iPlayer tonight, so no spoilers please! Second episode is on BBC2 tomorrow evening.
cheers

Another Montague Burton catalogue, this one from the Autumn/Winter season 1937-38 - "Celebrated Clothes" - so overcoats and heavy suits etc. I scanned a few pages to give a taste of the catalogue. These are very rare catalogues!
£25 for this. Shipping will be extra but should be cheap and to be...
Here is the first of a bunch of vintage menswear catalogues and literature I'll be selling off.
The first is Spring/Summer 1939 from Montague Burton - "Tailoring of Taste". This 24-page catalogue features Belted Back jackets; rare for a British catalogue. I scanned a few pages to give you a...
This suit is just amazing, and too big for me. Really fantastic fabric and dated 1948, this was the wedding suit of the chap who had it made (according to the daughter, from whom I bought it).
The fabric is a diagonal weave tweed made of creamy grey and reddish brown yarn, and is very...
Well, who knows the actual era? Single picture, no real details on show, but external buttons with no sign of a watch pocket in the trousers would, for me, put this in the 1930s. 34 chest, my ass. I'll bet this is bigger. Note to FLoungers: How NOT to list a suit on eBay...
This is a fantastic Adam hat. It's been my go-to hat for several years now, but I have too many straw hats, and two with fancy bands, so this one has to go. I thought I'd give you chaps a chance at it before I put it on eBay.
The straw is in great condition with no holes, rips or stains. The...
I bought a pile of these caps, and am offering them here at knockdown prices.
They are deadstock french caps in denim, with denim (sometimes selvedge, sometimes not) used for the sweatbands. rear workwear styles. The crown is not attached to the brim at the front. I think these would probably...
I know this has probably been covered, but I thought we should have a thread for discussion of size charts. Look around the interwebs and you'll find numerous different size charts, each claiming different inch measurements corresponding to hat sizes. Is there a definitive one? Or is there...
