BTW, you'll be flattered to know that he asked for you by name as his test-pilot for the first flight after his overhaul's done.

They're... crescent-shaped, all wing with two jet engines and a cockpit right up at the extreme nose. The Messerchmitt 262s you've heard rumors about look like old P-40s next to these... If I'm not mistaken, they're early Horten 229s, they look just like one I saw in the Smithsonian--but the official history is that the 229 never flew and all but one prototype were destroyed! They're not even supposed to be starting assembly on the first for another year and a half... I mean, we're talking about a tactical computer from almost 70 years in the future that has killed entire fighter wings at a time before, and four of these things shot Blackout to pieces so badly we barely made it back!

Somehow, this ain't the history I know from my time...

Hmmm... new German toys... a master infiltrator on the team... *locks eyes with Kilroy* are you thinkin' what I'm thinkin'?

Keep forgetting I don't have real-time imaging of the entire globe like back home, so we're gonna have to find the buggers' base first. Which means we have to get close enough in-flight for me to shoot one with a "tagger" round, then we gotta live to tell about it and see where they go... and I'll bet they'll have half the Algemeine-SS guarding 'em, which means nothing but the best the Jerries have on guard-duty. Probably recalled Michael Wittman himself to command the supporting tanks... it's like somehow they know I'm here and what I've got.

No, I'm the "penetration specialist". Here's the problem, the tagger rounds are only in 40mm, which means Blackout. A bullet would be easily found, so basically what we're trying to do is get the shell to burst close in and send a hail of these tiny little penetrators through the target's skin. It'll take long enough for 'em to pick 'em all out that at least one will allow time to home in...

Your 500mph hit-and-run would work if you caught 'em on takeoff or landing, these things turn on a dime. Problem is, we don't know where they're based...
