Another mid-80s day summer day. Today, I am wearing my Dobbs Fifteen Homburg, which was sold by Jim Patterson Hats located at 901 K Street in Sacramento, CA. The store operated for 79 years, originally opening in 1934 and closing in 1981. This is the easiest time I ever had dating a hat as I have the original sales receipt dated September 2nd, 1957. The soft gray felt was easily paired with my black shades and blue guayabera.

My sympathies for your pending loss, Rick. May your drive be safe and eventless, and your visit be full of love and friendship.
Just home from the road and all in all it was a nice day. He was alert and talkative. we had a good visit. SO glad we had the chance to visit before things go really downhill. ( and I still dislike the Houston traffic lol)

Love your friends and family... and make sure they know it while you have the chance. Dont put it off for another day... that day may not get here.

I'm so sorry for the unfortunate situation. Very glad you could spend some time with your friend that both of you can appreciate.

On the plane to Tokyo, we passed over Seattle. I did not realize how epic those volcanic peaks are out there. I saw three right in a row from the plane, not sure if one of them was Hood or not. Obviously one was Ranier - we passed right over it... I mean, I could see it from hundreds of miles away as we approached.

Great shots here with the OR and Hood in the background. Really nice looking hat.

Thank you! I agree, the cascade peaks are all very impressive.

I love seeing pictures from your travels, I hope things are going well.

Not today's hat, but yesterday's. My right knee has been giving me grief. To have it investigated my doctor had arranged an appointment for an X-ray at a nearby hospital. My bespoke Gamble & Gunn fedora, along with the trousers and shirt that Tina made, were photographed so many times that a royalty for each shot would have made me quite wealthy.

Top hats are traditionally black, although they do look rather good in grey, but apart from the topper, black hats are synonymous with a funereal appearance. Curious that because being without a hat, for the male mourner, is seen as a mark of respect for the deceased. Yet the black hat persists as the funeral hat.

Well you know where you can stick that fallacy. Yesterday's hat got a second airing.
