Echter Borsalino "Gorasgu" "Amiata" possibly late 1930s early 1940s. It's a real beauty and is in NOS condition. I found this Homburg back in 2018.

Beautiful hat, Joe. The ribbon is the winning feature.

Can't go wrong with that, Don! Gorgeous.

Another mid-80s day summer day. Today, I am wearing my Dobbs Fifteen Homburg, which was sold by Jim Patterson Hats located at 901 K Street in Sacramento, CA. The store operated for 79 years, originally opening in 1934 and closing in 1981. This is the easiest time I ever had dating a hat as I have the original sales receipt dated September 2nd, 1957. The soft gray felt was easily paired with my black shades and blue guayabera.

Good looking homburg!

It deserves better: it's a great looking hat!

Not today's hat, but yesterday's. My right knee has been giving me grief. To have it investigated my doctor had arranged an appointment for an X-ray at a nearby hospital. My bespoke Gamble & Gunn fedora, along with the trousers and shirt that Tina made, were photographed so many times that a royalty for each shot would have made me quite wealthy.

Top hats are traditionally black, although they do look rather good in grey, but apart from the topper, black hats are synonymous with a funereal appearance. Curious that because being without a hat, for the male mourner, is seen as a mark of respect for the deceased. Yet the black hat persists as the funeral hat.

Well you know where you can stick that fallacy. Yesterday's hat got a second airing.

I think you look great in a black hat, Robert. You good great in other hats as well of course. The black hat remains underappreciated, in the outside world and on the lounge as well. We would do well to remember that making a solid black hat was once the way for an apprentice to make it to master hatter and the peak for a man to show off his standing.

It was the granddaughter’s “First Rodeo” (1st birthday celebration) today. We had a power outage at the farm due to a storm and in all the hassle and confusion in trying to get to town after that we spaced out my wife’s matching Butch Dorer so she had to go with the only hat that fit her here in town — a Texas Hatters 13X with a tall crown (still in need of a cleaning). I’m in the Dorer Pure Beaver and the young’n is (very temporarily) sporting a wool 1950s Roy Rogers and Trigger western. Wearing it jauntily I might add.

Great pic, Bob and lots of fun it seems. You wife takes the price for the most awesome hat of course, no competition!

Aside from it being a beautiful hat it is also unique as the only Gorasgu homburg we know of.
My new (to me) Brent Black Plantation Panama -- Thank you @Bill Hughes -- as I set up the boat this morning

Such a nice light well made hat! Though as it is not as stiff as my lessor straws, the brim flaps around a bit as I drove to the wind :p
As it should! Panamas should be flexible and not as stiff as a sidetable. Exceptional looking hat, Rob.
