Thanks! :) I dislike the smile though, it looks like I'm at the dentist. :D Only for Easter, but that will likely change as I get braver. ;)

I love that hat Josephine! You should definitely break it out at other times of the year too.

Mallory Ten.

The weather is changing here in New England, and it's time to break out the fur felts. This is a Mallory Ten.

Yep, that's very nice, and the proportions suit you very well, Razzman.

I'm also delighted at how many of the ladies are starting - and continuing - to join in with this one.

Josephine's contribution got me wondering: Has there ever been a thread dedicated to hats people wear to the races? I don't really go that often so I guess I wouldn't be the one to start it, although once my Fieldmaster arrives that will be my race hat.

Well, not today, but Saturday evening when Rhonda and I were heading out to dinner and to see a play by a local group in Chillicothe.

I gotta get the cuffs raised a bit on my pants--and a bit wider. The current fashion of having them puddle around your ankles is not my style, but when I bought these I was still going along with what the tailor doing the alterations said as I didn't yet know any better.

And thank you all for your kind and encouraging words as to my outfits! As Douglas said to Vintage Betty: "You see it, you like it, you buy it and wear it. It is yours and make it so by wearing it any way that tickles your fancy. The only secret to wearing any hat is confidence. Be bold, be daring, hats like anything else look bad when YOU think they do..." That's the approach I take. My wife didn't like my saddle-shoes when I got them, until I wore them.

One good thing about getting out into the civilian world and having to buy nice suits and other clothing for job hunting and work is that it forced me out of my mindset of "I'll buy nice clothes when I've got down to where I should weigh" and I learned that I can look sharp even at my current weight. And the hats... well, the hats seal the deal! :D

Regards,
Tom

As a fellow "Big Man", I feel your pain. But your attitude, and wardrobe, outshine it mightily! You carry it well, and with confidence and, after all, isn't that what matters?

I like what you've done to your PT! The baby-moons, chrome inserts on the bumper, etc. I've done some of that to mine as well, gets comments, even here in L.A., all the time!

I don't know if this is correct, but it works for me - "It's not the clothes that make the man, it's the man that makes the clothes!" Rock on!

No, you look absolutely beautiful. If you want to see some truly terrible pictures, go back a couple pages and look at the picture of me in the pink hat. My eyes look like I am possessed (and not with good taste either) and I'm smirking because the series of pictures I took were horrible. lol

I hope you consider wearing that hat more often; it really is lovely on you. Maybe you could add seasonal touches? (Fall leaves, Christmas mistletoe, etc)?

It was chilly today, so I wore my Biltmore. Please excuse my horrible picture-taking abilities.

That is one good thing about that hat, it's all white so it lends itself very well to those extra touches. You can't see it in those pics, but I had added some light purple "flowers" and a light purple ribbon on it to match my dress. I think I have to get past the white hat=white shoes=/=worn after Labor Day. And that shoes need to match the hat. :)

This hat I am going to have altered. The felt is ultra dense but not stiff. It is a lot heavier than I thought it should be but I think it will make for a great fedora. I plan on reducing the brim to 2-5/8" from the 3-1/4" and putting a deep diamond bash in.It has a 6" open crown.
