that's exactly what I mean ... I keep buying them thinking it will have the look I seek and it never is

I have a few that are fine ... but none that satisfy the vision in my head

I guess it was the same with felts for me. I kept buying until I figured out what I was looking for.... It was just so long ago I don't remember ( or have tried to forget) all the felts I purchased and no longer like!

It's a Milan day here in hot humid northern Illinois. Introducing the new Dobbs courtesy of the fine folks at Hats-Plus. Switched out the brown for the black silk ribbon. Hats-Plus rocks!! I thought I was going to have a heart attack in there today. I was like a kid in a candy super warehouse!!

I can't keep up with the great hats! These are older file pics from a couple of months ago, but I grabbed the NW Hats pecan beaver felt fedora this morning. 5-3/4" open crown with a dimensional brim at 2-5/8" front and back, 2-1/2" on the sides.

Closest HoJo to me is 70 miles north. Used to stay at them all the time as a kid. Tuesday: all the clams you can eat!

Today for church the Mallory Ten fits the bill for a grey Sunday. Picked up a cheap Ebay Chinese tie and pocket square for $5, not bad quality.

I just took the Dobbs Dutton for a 1 1/8 mile spin downtown. Most of the stores were closed. There were a few tiny droplets but nothing about which to really grouse. (I had my $4.00 plastic hat cover with me, in the event of a "precipitous emergency").

My 100% Black Cotton Porkpie arrived this morning; having to put styrofoam behind the sweatband to make it fit didn't make me very happy.

Any suggestions as to how I can make it shrink a bit without destroying the hat's structure?

Just wear it for a while . It will probably shrink . If not after a few months , then go to Plan B . Just give it time first .
