crazydaisy, I love that picture you found lol. If I ever find the right hat and dress, I could try to recreate it.

Nothing particularly vintage about today's outfit, but I am wearing my new wig which just came in the mail. I haven't had long hair since I was about 9 years old, and this is my first non-synthetic wig, so having this much hair to style is a new experience! I just experimented with some loose curls with a curling iron, but I can't wait to start trying out pincurls and other vintage looks. My first mission will be to get some big foam rollers, it has been my dream to do a voluminous Marlo Thomas/Emma Peel style flip!

I don't usually smile with my teeth, but these sunglasses make me laugh. Even I think they are a bit much.

Wearing nearly 100% jet black today.

Black 4-pocket, 7-button formal waistcoat (single-breasted).
Black button-down shirt.
Black trousers.
Navy blue socks.
Black leather dress shoes.
Black trenchcoat.
Black hat.

The reason for this depressing enssemble is that it is POURING and FREEZING outside and I wanted to dress dark colours to keep warm. It is literally raining sideways outside. I wanted to wear a red tie with this setup to break up the colour a bit, but the shade of red that I wanted wasn't in my tie-collection...

I assembled this outfit around the premise of coupling a brown hat with a grey suit, as seen often in old ads. The hat is a Vintage Silhouettes custom, in a colour called whiskey; it is a brown with a green cast, and its ribbon and binding are green, so I played with browns and greens in the complements to bring the whole together.

I would say it turned out well enough. Opinions?
