The Cav is just nutz Max. Mr. Staley sure had some taste. Can't wait to see it in your hands.I bought this one yesterday. I will post head shots when I have it.

Nice find!!!
Looks like a very early fifties or late forties model based on that sweatband bow and hatband ribbon. I'd love to see the union label. (might be on the back on the size tag.) anybody got any thoughts??
The "New York" address in the liner logo places this one later, maybe post 1956? Possibly into the early 60s. Cavanagh held on to the finest features as long as they could.
Ahhh, Thanks for the correction! I didn't know about that New York address being an indicator. I thought they had switched to a newer style of hatband ribbon by then. I just learned a new tip on identifying Cavanugh's. (See why I love this forum??)
Hey Max, how much did you pay for this hat?I was forgetting to post this hat here. I find it interesting.
This 1930's? Cavanagh just arrived. Suede finish, very soft
.
There is a little shield instead of a backbow on the sweatband, and the stitching there is also unusual. None of the hats I have seen have this feature.
The following is copied from CityVintageClothing's listing on Etsy.

You are welcome, Daniele.Thank you Max. I was courious
While perusing eBay, I came across an opera hat with a liner I haven’t seen before. It might be quite common and unremarkable, but it was new to me. Unfortunately, the hat is far too small for me.
Was this a common liner in its day?

At the risk of being excommunicated, I was thinking I'd wear it like that for a while, and then might ask Ignacio to copy the shape of the one I envy of Scott's.I like it, Max! Is that your first lords hat? I thought you didn’t like the homburg style?
