To add to all the "Indy" comments... Today I walked into work wearing
1)dress shoes
2)khaki trousers
3)blue button up dress shirt
4)tan corduroy sport jacket
5)Stetson dark brown fedora

One of the people asked me if I was trying to look like a country singer...

??

Hmm, country singer... I've got to admit your attire isn't a world apart from that of James Taylor's here:

Sort of... I know, not the same thing.

I've had my share of Indiana Jones comments as well, for that matter. Three days ago in fact, I got two for basically dressing very similarly; leather jacket, brown fedora, white shirt, khakis, etc... They are almost always complimentary though, people like to see me wearing what I do, I suppose, and it probably just so happens to remind them of one of their favorite film characters. I have yet to get the same comment wearing my grey homburg though, that got me a few compliments, but more about my own individual style.

I've been wearing hats since 2004 and never get any comments, which is actually fine with me. I live in Georgia and my wife and I just spent Saturday through Monday in New York City visiting one of our daughters. We walked the streets, rode the subway, and roamed from 150th street to Soho to Brooklyn. I wore my dark gray Akubra Sydney and got not one comment. Of course, in New York City, I could have been a three armed, orange Martian wearing a beanie and a Superman cape and nobody would have looked twice.

Not only that, but if you had a cup on the ground you could have gotten change from the passersby AND maybe even some government subsidies for your "performance art"!!

While I admit it's not disimilar, I hardly think of him as the archetype of a country singer... Besides the fact that I *LIKE* country music, and I've never heard of him. This is more my view of country singer

Rather than having another "dumb comments" thread, which would also be 99% Indy/gangster whining, I like the idea of a "strange comments" thread.

Welcome to the non-sequitur hat thread.

You have NEVER heard of James Taylor? He's only been putting out hits since 1969 and he lives in the Chapel Hill area up your way :) WOW :)
