Just got a box from Sam at EA, with this beautiful Coober Pedy in sand, then when I saw the opal first thing in my head was " this thing looks like Elizabeth Taylor's eyes", and I know about this since my uncle Victor Luna dated Taylor for quite a good time.

I opened the box and looked at it in sunlight, it was obviously brown. It was going to be a project hat, so I decided to redicrect my plans to a brown hat (I rarely wear black hats anyway). But when I got it inside my house, under artificial/indoor light, the hat now appears to no longer be brown - it is now a very dark green. So I am keeping it, whatever color it is?? Photo #2 shows the changes after reblock/reshape. I plan to change the ribbon to a thin tan on light olive ribbon with a bow. The hat is an early 1960s Byer-Rolnick era Resistol "17.50."
The "green" is actually much darker than the photo - more of bottle green.

This is almost as my Biltmore. Whatever angle I take a picture of it seems that my camera have some weird color flare on the lenses, but it doesn't change color on different light sources

I saw this and bought it with the intent of having it top off a costume based on Burgess Meredith's "Penguin" character. An exchange due to sizing coupled with the transfer of goods across the Atlantic prevented my using it for Halloween, but it's now in-hand in time for next year's DragonCon. Plenty of time to relax the brim a bit and pad it slightly for a proper fit.

This hat arrived during the great heat of this summer along with another homburg

Homburg Swiss made. Producer was Globus (information courtesy by Steve - mayserwagener)

Made in a mixed felt fur/wool is really modelable

Not so much worn and with excellent finishes
