I got my new Adam Airliner out and gave it a quick brush and took a few pictures. I believe it is a later production Adam hat with a thin ribbon, something of a stratoliner clone. The gabardin color changes a little from a light brown inside to more of a greyish brown outside. It has a 2 1/4" bound brim with a 4 1/4" crown at the front. The sweat unfortunately has a tear near the back of the hat but it doesn't affect comfort.

Another hat arrived in the last days of 2022, worn, but never photographed for this thread.
View attachment 480557 The hat has a particular history: it was owned by a sales agent for Cervo, Bantam, Barbisio, Inca, Doria, Guerra and owner of a well-known hat shop in Milan.

He has a good number of hats left and he has some problems selling them, but I think in the future it will be easy, we'll see :)

This is a "Bantam Special Creation" made by Cervo, size 60 cm. or 6 1/2 in US. more than what i need for my head.
No paper label to know more on this velour
View attachment 480566
It belongs to the latest generation of Bantam, let's say the Seventies.
The felt is very nice and in line with those Italian velour ones I've found in the last few months.
View attachment 480568
The felt probably comes from Panizza, the only one in Italy at that time to produce velour.
The finishes are excellent, the dimensions are generous and are these: the brims are 6.5 centimeters, the fully open crown is 14 and the ribbon, in contrast with the color of the felt, is 1 centimetre.

I was lucky even if completing the purchase was difficult. It was worth it
Very interesting hat. Rare to see a thin ribbon on a velour hat. The felt looks great.

Thanks Stefan. It is true, the hat has a thin ribbon on a generous proportions hat, but made in velour.
It is a little bit odd. I presume it was made for foreigners in Milan or for markets outside Italy.
A Cervo out of tradition!

Dobbs fedora dating ca. 1928 to early 1930's. Has 2 1/4 inch bound brim, 2 inch ribbon. Just got this morning. Absolutely like brand new.

A softee! Most mid 50s CBs I’ve seen were stiff as heck. This one also has the wider brim. 2 7/8 and 4 5/8 crown at pinch.
Had to clean, shape and fill a few moth divots. I have yet to clean the liner while still in hat. Snagged on eBay for less than half its worth. I absolutely love this hat!!! Though the same proportions I have a super pristine late 40s softee 7XCB that I like too, but I’d give up that one before this new one. Has a better look and profile, to me.
The thumbnails show the previous moth damage.

You did a wonderful job in restoring/revitalizing that hat.

Stenton Hats New York. I was able to find very little on this maker. It’s a great charcoal grey with blue tones. The blue ribbon and binging bring out the blues in the felt. The sweatband has a in-reeded. The open crown is 5 ½” and the bound brim is 2 ⅝” wide. The felt is very nice and molds easily dry on a fence post. It’s more like 1940s 3X than Royal DeLuxe if that helps. Size is 7 ⅛ US or 57cm.
