ID these gloves

Hi All,

Could someone please ID these gloves? They are from the 1948 movie "Fighter Squadron". I'm looking for something that goes well with A-2s, without any cuffs (I don't understand how the A10's cuffs don't interfere with the A-2's cuffs), lighter shade than a seal brown A-2, and tight fitting, not bulky as an A-10.

Thanks!

Officers leather gloves? - you can buy modern versions of them - just called men's gloves, in most department stores in the UK. I've seen vintage pairs being sold as 'officers gloves' often RAF or sometimes Swedish officers gloves, on eBay.

They look similar to the gloves issued to me in the USN in 1967 used with my flight suit and my G-1, also issued. My G-1 had sleeves too short for my long arms, although I was told my G-1 was meant to be worn with gloves that covered up the knits as seen in the picture above. As I recall the gloves I was issued were unlined. I wish I had kept the gloves but turned everything in when I was separated from active duty. I kept the G-1 that was stolen very soon after military separation. :(

I ran a search on RAF officer leather gloves, and indeed, that's the one I'm after! Can anyone recommend a good source? What about Softmilitary?

It does look like the Eastman one, but a darker color. The Dent looks exactly like the one I would like, but it's well out of my budget :(

Many sites only list "S" and "M" and such, but how do I know how it translates to inches?

I know, they aren't cheap. I never lose things normally but I did lose a top of the line unlined pair of Dents that I'd picked up from a TK Maxx for £20 about five years ago, I'm still bitter about it now and I've never found a pair that fitted so well :)

If you aren't in a rush some of their retailers normally sell them off in the new year, though not much use for this winter.

Thanks for the suggestions! How does a size 8 translate to EU sizing? Is it an S or an M?

The palm circumference is approx 22cm
The total length is approx 25cm
I have A10 gloves from MASH in size 10 and they are the same size.

While glove sizes are supposed to be standardised they do vary between makers. You would be advised to measure your hand and according to the charts on most glove sizing pages on the internet. A quick search will bring up many and you'll see the variations. Email:Send your measurements to the glove supplier of your choice and wait for their advice on sizing. If in you're still in doubt then send for two sizes and return the ones that don't fit.

Those look strikingly similar to 1960's RCMP gloves...I definitely want a pair of these now!!! Daaughh!!!

(Of course I'd want a pair a size smaller and Cut the liners out.)

I ordered a pair of officer's gloves from SOF Military. Their customer service told me size "S" corresponds to size 8. So I went for it. The gloves are beautiful and exactly what I'm after, but the label reads "S/7", and they are a size too small :( I contacted the customer service, and they said they are looking into the matter. I don't understand why the jury is out on this for so long though...

Return them using their printed returns label or a recorded or signed for delivery, get a refund and reorder the correct size. Any quibbles and you can contest via your credit card or PayPal Bank etc.
However it shouldn’t come to that judging by their policy on returns shown here

Ps and if a seller has a free returns policy - take my wife’s advice and send for two sizes keeping the ones that fit, returning the ones that don’t and sometimes returning both if you don’t like them. If you time it right your refund will come in before the credit card bill.

I just got my size 8 replacement. The fit is OK, but the stitching is already coming apart and one of the fingers is sewn twisted....I'm quite disappointed but I don't want to spend any more time and/or money on SOF by returning it.
