Very nice, indeed. I like the color of that one.

This is my new homburg from Mr. P in Greece. Lowered the crown to 4.5", extended the brim to 2 3/4", Cocoa with chocolate ribbon. Beaver fur felt.

Thank you Steve. I prefer no pinch on my Homburgs. This one came to me with the pinch. There is still a ghost pinch.

Waited a long time for it - then finally arrived and still not posted for a long time:
The black Henry Heath Homburg, which apparently wants to be or should be a tuxedo hat.
Or maybe a Melone/Derby/Bowler, because that is the stiffest felt on a soft felt hat
I have ever seen! Even with steam, small bends were hard to tame!
And at the same time, it's one of the smoothest and most supple felts I've had in my hands.
Truly a high quality, premium hat as you would expect from this manufacturer.
Must be before 1952: "By Special Appointment To His Majesty The King" - think of the 40s
crown with 11 cm at the centre dent; 5,5 cm brim at the front & back; 5 cm crown ribbon
size 7 1/4 (59cm) marked on the label - fits perfectly!

What makes it even more remarkable and, apart from the felt,
makes it stand out from the big bunch of black homburgs:
It has no sweat leather inside, but a reeded silk ribbon (5 cm)
sewn in and stitched to the silk lining. What's more, this rep band
doesn't feature Henry Heath's logo once again, but a stunning
gold imprint of "Tress - Quality Hats - London" (Tress & Co).
Actually, these were hat manufacturers themselves and thus
a competitor of Heath, or were the latter once bought out by Tress?
Otherwise it would be possible that Tress ordered this hat from Heath
and then sold it themselves OR the grosgrain ribbon is an exchange?!
In any case, this ribbon is exceptional and clearly gives this Homburg
the touch of a tuxedo hat, which I have mentioned above.

Here is an excellent Mossant Bayard for homburg lovers.
Very well preserved, seems new and unwore, it is a magnificent example of post-war French headwear.

Size 59cm, which is 6 for French measurement.
It is of medium weight, 125 grams and is unlined.

The color of the felt is "Gris africain" which means African gray.

The measures of the hat are as follows: the curled brims are 6 cm. the ribbon is 4 cm. and the open crown is 13.5 cm.

The ribbon is in contrast with the felt color and with the one that adorns the brims.

The color of the felt is a gray with a splash of light blue that makes it unique.
I like the way the French hats producers use the colors felt name and above all the grays palette that is unique

Not exactly a homburg, but a lords hat, so close enough.
The Holborn hat Special Quality. Lords hat in black, size 58 with the brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. As it came in a rather fetching Stetson hat box, I thought it was American made at first, but it's probably English. Holborn being the legal centre of London, the style fits. Liner and textured sweatband suggest an early hat, likely late thirties. Could be forties as well though.
No label inside the hat, other than the price tag, which says 34,50. The size label is metric, which is unusual for an English made hat, so it's not completely certain that it is English made. The flags on the liner don't give anything away either, so a bit of a mystery.

I'm thinking I might also reach out to Borsalino directly see if they have any information regarding this hat. There's a tag inside which has the numbers / letters "10K46 63963 Gulaita 6 1/2". Not sure if that helps at all, but thought I'd point that out.

Hi Christopher. Nice looking hat. Actually that tag is one of the best indicators of age. I believe that style of tag with serrated edges all around points to mid to late 1950s. Perhaps Stefan @steur or @Daniele Tanto could offer more insight.

Thanks so much for the information! It would be awesome if it was a 1950's Borsalino. I also reached out to Borsalino directly and their customer service department has forwarded my information to another department that should be able to help. I don't know what their record keeping is like and I know the company has gone through some changes recently, from the company's president getting arrested in 2013, to declaring bankruptcy in 2017, to being bought at auction by Haeres Equitas it's definitely been a turbulent few years for them. But hopefully they'll have some more information for me.

Super find! It's a Swiss Market Borsalino which is interesting. It's from the German area of Switzerland so similar to German market Borsalino Homburgs of the same time period. I have a somewhat similar (form, paper label type) Echter Borsalino Export Qualität "Gulaela" which is probably later 1950s early 1960s. Yours could be from a similar time period.
