A couple of great hats, gentlemen.

Here is the "little" brother of Brent's hat:
Borsalino Homburg for the German market
Although again a black Homburg, but beautiful felt.
Size 6 punti, height open crown 14 cm, width brim 6 cm
I just couldn't pass by that one...

Hi everyone! I just received this vintage Borsalino homburg. Was wondering if someone could help me put a date on it. I'm thinking I might also reach out to Borsalino directly see if they have any information regarding this hat. There's a tag inside which has the numbers / letters "10K46 63963 Gulaita 6 1/2". Not sure if that helps at all, but thought I'd point that out.
Nice find and nothing to add to the information already given. As far as we know this type of label was around from 1954 until 1960. Lovely hat, congrats.

Excellent find, Brent. In great condition as well. WHat does the label actually say as a model name though, because I can't really make out the last few letters? We know of the models "erodisti" and "erodispo", but this looks more like "erodisan" to me, which would be a new one.

Thanks, Stefan. I can’t make out the letters, but the last letter doesn’t look like an “I” or an “O” to me.

When would you guess this hat was made?

Thank you, Stefan. I think I have all my homburg needs met at this point.

Borsalino wasn’t shy about making new models where they? Stetson made do with the St. Regis for decades...not that I’m complaining.
They certainly weren't. Hard to tell in what way the models differ from eachother though. I think that it was at least in part a marketing strategy.

Based on the label I would say 1961-65 for a date range. Nice pickup and a great price.

Usually, lots of repeated applications of steam and manual manipulation will get you where you want to be. Steam it well and then immediately work the brim into the shape you want and keep repeating until it’s there. It looks to be in good shape and it shouldn’t take long to get it shaped up.

Note: Keep the steam away from the leather sweatband.

As with Stefan: Sometimes you just have to be lucky...
I gave a hat a chance, which was actually specified with 56 cm
and therefore intended for Panos. The condition and the bad pictures
made me/us suspect that it was an old (30s/40s) dark blue Woolie.
The price was unbeatable with 7€ (including shipping!) anyway...

41178104ax.jpg

When the package arrived yesterday, I was shocked at first,
because the box containing the hat was slightly larger than my hand!
I feared the worst...
Apart from the compressed state, it quickly turned out that the hat
unfortunately would not fit Panos - because it is a 58!
Lucky for me (sorry again, Panos).
A look at the logo on the sweat told me that it was a postwar hat
(certainly 50s): VEB Vereinigte Hutwerke Guben!
The actual dark blue felt (Yeah!) also turned out to be a wool-hair mix.
However, the condition was so badly deteriorated that I couldn't really tell
what the original shape was. I opted for an oldschool version with a deep
crease and gave the hat a lot of cleaning, brushing and steaming.
Here is the result:

The logo sadly is difficult to recognize

Later I found a hat on Steve's wonderful site that belongs to Chris
(here from the lounge) and is the same model in gray
- same shape/design of ribbon & sweat, same logo and label.
However, the lining has unfortunately been lost on mine.

You have wonderfully brought that one back to life, Matt.

I am the happy new owner of Panos' (Chris on Steve's website) VEB Homburg.
I'll post photos and comments tomorrow.

Another new one. Chisnall, sold to me as a size 62, but I already knew that would be its size. Turned out to be a size 58 (most here guessed it would be a 59). So, Chisnall Elite homburg, with the brim at 5,6cm and the crown at 10,5 cm at the center dent. Likely made by Wegener through wholesellers W&G Schuchart, whose label is inside the hat.

The shape, felt, finishing all point towards an early sixties hat. I'd say 1963, but late 1963.;)

This hat was listed as a "Willoughby haters t54". I'm not a Willoughby hater; au contraire, and from sellers' pics the 7 1/8 size tag could be seen. I'll have that, thank you.
So, Willoughby homburg in a size 58 (fits more like a 57 though) in a nice richt brown colour called Pacha. Brim at 6cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Stitches still in the ribbon. It had a cellophane covering of the liner originally (a sliver of which can be seen on the liner pic). I'm going with later forties to mid-fifties for this one. Not a lightweight homburg though: weighs 155 grams. Felt and finishing are fantastic.

New and also for Panos:
Wegener Cornett Homburg in dark blue with a dark blue (!) sweat.
A fantastic hat with great dimensions and nice felt - and like new.
I haven't seen the lining logo - also with blue - like this before either.
With stiched liner and the plastic liner tip I would say late 1950s.
Size 56 - crown 11,5 at the dent - brim at 5,5/6,0 (sides/front-back).
Sold in Mannheim: Zeumer-Hüte (liner, sweat and plastic protector).
