Renewing my membership in the nation with a Borsalino in cobalto blue:

I prefer my homburgs, and hats in general, to have more generous proportions, but you take what you can get when you’re a 7 3/4. Thanks again to Adrian @Miamibruno
I think this work verys well for you, Brent. Looks very good and not like a "little hat" at all. Shape, colour and proportions look great.

It's a gorgeous homburg, Brent. The way they should be with nice straight sides and well proportioned (I'm still talking about the hat here).

I completely understand. The longer I'm in this hobby (madness), the more I gravitate toward homburgs and bowlers and away from traditional fedoras.

Yup, it's a beauty, Randy. Wonderful bit of contrast on it.

Thanks, Randy. I don’t know why homburgs appeal to me so much more than bowlers/derbies.
I always thought derbies/bowlers would look so cool and wondered why more of them aren't out there. Then I tried one on -- most aren't expecting such stiffness in a hat if they've started with the cheaper crushable fedoras. Homburgs are amazingly versatile stylistically -- anywhere from Winston Churchill to Al Pacino as Michael Corleone or Fred Williamson as Black Caesar walking the streets of Harlem. I just picked up a light grey Scala on closeout from hatcountry -- have been searching to see if I can make it an even curl all the way around, more towards Michael Corleone. Black Caesar is acceptable, but, in all honesty, I must avoid the gangster party /pimp daddy look at all costs!

I bought this Brosson hat as a size 58 for a trade. Turned out to be a size 56. The newspaper that was under the sweatband had the date of 13th november 1943 on it, so I'll take that as the date for it.
Laubin homburg in blue grey (colour is called "oriental" on the label) for Brosson of Toulouse. Size 56 with the bound brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Laubin made hats for Sools as well. The factory was based in the Savoy region in Pont de Beauvoisin since 1787 (!). They closed doors in 1955. A well made hat with a very nice hand and excellent finishing. Has a piece of corrugated band between the sweatband and the felt, like some other brands do as well. Not something you see on French hats. Weighs 115 grams.
