Rewaxing a Barbour International

Has anyone here ever sent their Barbour jacket back in to Barbour to be rewaxed? I’ve debated doing it by myself (I’ve waxed every musette bag I’ve owned since Boy Scouts), but want to know if it’ll have another “honeymoon” period if I invest in sending it back to them. Thanks!

It really is so easy to re-wax a jacket I’d never consider doing anything other than doing it yourself. This is something I normally do every year (and if you take your time it won’t be done any better by sending it back to Barbour)
Firstly, stand the open tin of wax in some hot water to soften it up. Then, simply rub the now liquid wax well into the jacket with a cloth or sponge. Once the whole jacket has been done I also go over it with a hair dryer on a hot setting to ensure the wax has been fully absorbed into the cotton outer (this also gives more of a professional finish)
Finally, hang the jacket up for an hour or two to allow the wax to dry and it’ll be good to go for another year.

I have rewaxed Barbours many times over the years, using exactly the method @RDS outlines. You get quicker and it gets less messy with practise.

I also sent my International back to Barbour one for a relax and repair. It was like new when I got it back from them, and only cost about £30 at the time, which seemed reasonable.

Choice is yours.
