My tawny fawn Campdraft finally arrived! This is my first fedora and just wondering what you all think? The bash was my first attempt on a non-Western hat. Is this a C-crown or a teardrop? Sorry, still learning my "creast police" handbook.

C-crown and teardrop are the same thing. That crease looks great. Seems like you took your time with it. You're gonna fit in just fine around here.

Edit: Some more digging turned up that there is a slight difference between the two creases.

You did good, just don't make anything "tight" yet and wear it a little while. Then you can play around with different creases, you will find it fun!:eusa_clap

Scion if you put a couple cigars in your shirt pocket (avatar) then you could be in an ad with the Fuentes. I could not find a pic but they are wearing white shirts and white hats.:D

Thanks for the compliments. Is there anywhere that shows comparison pics of the different bashes so I can educate myself quickly? BTW, I am already contemplating a grey hat to wear with blue and grey suits. That glen grey Campdraft looks tempting. For folks looking for alternative sources of Akubras, you might look where I ordered mine, Titleys in Australia at www.titleys.com.au
Thanks,
Jed

Great job, dawgvet. I've been working on my first bash on a just-arrived Johnnyphi Adam Royal, and I wasn't happy at all with my C-Crown/teardrop attempts. I'm working on a diamond now...but may have to try the c-crown again using your model when my Fed IV arrives.

Thanks for the feedback. GTD, did your campdrafts ever come in? Maybe we could get together and compare notes when they do. Thanks for all the help. This is really a great forum.

Got a note the Glen Grey one was at HatsDirect & shipping out. Still waiting on Silver Belly notice, Sam at EA said "in March". Mid-Brown is slotted for "April". Too funny that this grey one is going to get here first!

Very nice, dawgvet. Your crease job is well done and you look good in that hat. The wide brim suits you very well. IC is right though, before you set it tightly, wear it a while.

Well, in the spirit of the current thread raging on about how "brutally" honest to be when an opinion is asked...

That is an awesome bash! None of mine have ever turned out so well. I think HarpPlayerGene has mentioned that he prefers his bashes to be a little ragged (my term, not his) but I have tried to make mine as smooth as I could. So now I can add you to the list of folks I want to be able to bash like (along w/JimmytheLid and RBH). The good news is that your close enough that I might run into you shopping in Canton (I live in Ball Ground) and I can get a close up of your lid(s).
Oh yeah, it really does look good on ya...honest! (was that too brutal?)

Hey Jed, sounds like we need to find a better spot to talk hats than the Freehome Publix parking lot! Hoss here is just up 372 in Ball Ground, sounds like a Cherokee County Crease Police Precinct meeting needs to happen!...
