[Men] unable to -not read threads that were not intended for them- .

Since neither of us are psychic, I'm going to PM Dollfaced, the person who started the Powder Room's "Dita" thread. Only she can tell us if her thread was not intended for men to read, let alone post in.

It's silly for us men to have to play eternal guessing games regarding the "intentions" of Powder Room threads. I played that game with the "Dita" thread, and concluded that it was open to both sexes. According to you, Miss Queenie, and anonymous others, I guessed wrong -- and Miss Queenie gave me (and men in general) a tongue-lashing for it.

I've never sent hate mail and never will. Sincere suggestions are far more productive. Here's one: When creating a new thread in the Powder Room, begin its title with three letters: NFM, which stands for "Not for Men". In this way, we'd know from the beginning -- even before opening the thread itself -- that we are not welcome there.

Don't like the idea? Then simply forbid that men enter the entire Powder Room section. Just stop making us play this guessing game about where we should and should not enter.

Sari... If you can, would you PM me the link to the performance you saw online? I am curious which one it is. If you think she is great you should see some galfriends of mine. Beautiful, funny, outrageous, just wonderful performers!

Shaul-Ike Cohen... Oh, ok, my apologizes, I thought you were saying that the Burlesque performance was exicuted the same as a modern pole dancer. (Now don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against either style.)

Johnnysan... I haven't met her personally myself, but I have seen her perform in person. And I have seen her fully clothed in person. All I can say is I am quiet jealous! :-D

MikePara... Who would you suggest being a better, fresher Burlesque performer and or model? I thank you mentioning me! I am still trying to cut out my nitch... and hopefully it will start happening soon. Sadly, insecurities and living in Arz has held me back from really going forward. :) Back to Dita, I think that Dita has been pulling away from her Vintage self and style lately. Ever since her name started appearing in magazines and on guest lists to events... it seems as though she is choosing designers threads over the style that made her more or less a nationwise face. She first became popular as a fetish model, she put that aside to focus more on the pin-up, and now she is retro Hollywood elegance. Not a bad thing at all in my opinion. A person needs to grow and will change and I am all for that... it is just when one is a public figure, people grasp ahold of a certain image of the star and feel disappointed when it changes. Madonna is a fine example of how the public doesn't want to let go of an image. I don't know where I was going with this or if I even had a point... so... yeah... I should just end it here. LOL

Miss Hell Belle... I wanted to apply for the NYBF, but sadly I won't be able to travel at the time of the event. I am actually quite disappointed, because NYBF is the only big festival I haven't performed at. :( Boo! Have fun!!

Wild Root... Yeah, I am the prude stripper! LOL Don't drink, don't smoke, don't do drugs (Never tried anything not even pot), no tattoos, only my ears are peirced. I suppose my only vices are being nekked in public and married men!! Hahahaha... :p Now, just how much of that is me joking. I always enjoy meeting people who don't drink... it makes the night more enjoyable in my opinion. That way there is no "babysitting". You are too sweet! Thank you for your words... hehehe but now that you know my vices... do you still feel the same?! LOL

Wolf... You don't sound like a dirty ol man! Thank you... that is quite kind of you to say as well. On to Dita, I will have to disagree, I do think she is as <s>scrawny</s> thin as today's models. I think that the only reasons why she looks more curvacious is because of two things, one she is shorter than most model requirements. Dita is 5'6" not the 5'9 min more gals in the modeling business are. This doesn't make her figure look longated therefore making her look more twiggy. Second and most important, I feel, is that she doesn't appear to be as thin as other models is because she corset trains. If she didn't do that, I think she would have the same thin up and down frame as today's well known models. Dita does pilates and ballet... these tend to make the body lean and muscular and leaves little room for the (thin layer of fat) softness that makes a woman curvy.

Defining turf on the Internet??

Wild Root said:
I feel strongly it came from some of our lady members getting tired of having us guys poking around their turf.

Well, Root...you're a Bartender around here and I respect your opinion, but let's put all of this "my turf/your turf, our turf/their turf" nonsense to bed.

While this may be a forum about the Golden Age, the medium we use is definitely of modern times. The bottom line is that an inappropriate comment or subject is just plain inappropriate regardless of where it resides in cyberspace. Maybe everyone, including our fine ladies, should consider how much personal information that we're posting about ourselves and exercise a bit of self restraint in any given PUBLIC thread. Once it's posted on the Web, a comment is open to public scrutiny and comment. Anyone who thinks otherwise really is living in the 1940's.

I'm not trying to start an argument here...just trying to give the discussion a bit of perspective - albeit, my own. [huh]

...and BTW, I STILL think Dita is gorgeous! ;)

as for Dita, i don't know why exactly, but there's just something a bit fake about her (and i'm not referring to cosmetic surgery). i can see that she's attractive, but maybe she's almost too perfect ? the personalized touch is missing... i don't know.

Woah! You mean anything we say can be seen by anybody! I didn't know that, I mean for serious.... I shall here and forewith button my lip.

But on Dita. She is definitely better brunette. And that picture posted earlier where she's leaning on the wall with the two gents next to her. I want that look!

And can someone explain, if it's not X rated, what Burlesque actually is. Put in as many .....s as you need, or send me to PM.

And, if she's 5'6" why is she being described as tiny and petite. I'm 5'7" and I have definitely never been called that! lol

Dita's a smart cookie. Vogue and other magazines used to feature her regularly in their "worst dressed" lists. Dita rejoiced; she realized that a celebrity never gets on a best-dressed list more than several times a year, but someone "badly dressed" can get to be in print every month. Now that Dita has become the designers' darling, she has graduated at last to Vogue's "best dressed" list. Mind you, her clothes today look as vintage-esque as before, if a bit more goth. Fashion is nonsense.

Hello Gals!

We're certainly glad you have made your way to the Powder Room! We look forward to getting to know each and every one of you better, and look forward to the information we can share. This is a place for all ages to come together, so this is just a friendly reminder of some posting guidlines here at the lounge.

*<b> We are an open forum for both sexes but request that the men do not post in lingerie threads (for more info on posting content, please view the Lingerie Links sticky)</b>

* Please refrain from profanity. We are ladies, after all!

* Please don't post anything considered sexual or erotic, be it pictures, posts, or links that contain any partial or full nudity. I know our commonplace undergarments are now considered erotica. Please make sure that when you post a link that the site contain any photos of this nature. Catalogs of the Golden Era showed these items tastefully, and so can we!

* Please do not provide links to your personal website where you sell items for profit. If you have a few of your personal items to sell, please feel free to put them in classifieds, but vendors are highly encouraged to not mention their websites or auctions. If you are interested in advertising on the Fedora Lounge, please contact MK.

* Live Ebay Auctions are not allowed. Feel free to post a link to the auction after it has closed, or if you are selling something from your personal collection put it in classifieds.

* Since we have a small community of gals on the Fedora Lounge, we get this one forum for all our girly needs. This means we're part Beauty Salon, part Boutique, and everything else under one roof.

Thanks so much, ladies, and we look forward to much more time spent with you!

Isn't that, um, pretty much how it should be? Or do we need a rules change?

Maybe first, gents just need a reminder that the PR is for ladies mainly, and guys use the thinking hat and be considerate when a topic is clearly ladies focussed, and leave when you or another gent has been asked to.

That's really what it should all boil down to -- common sense and thoughtfulness. Nobody needs to take offense or get het up -- just think first before posting.

I think there's threads in the Powder Room where a guy's perspective might very well be welcome -- how does this hairstyle look on me, what do you think of this dress, what about this hat, etc etc. If a guy wants to throw in his two cents on something like that, why not? A guy's perspective on such an issue might be very different from a woman's, and, personally, I certainly don't mind hearing from both sides.

On the other hand, if it's really personal stuff -- and you know the kind of things we mean by that -- then use your common sense. Some things Aren't For Boys, and you don't have to think too hard to recognize them when they're being discussed. Common sense, again. That's really what it all boils down to.

And as for Dita, gee, it's a pity she can't talk some common sense into that husband of hers...

Yes. What is his makeup about! And he's been wearing that look way too long. I saw him once without the make up on and heard him in interview, and I can see the attraction. But with that ghoul look. Yech. But Dita loves him. :) Whoo, way to girly. Quick, guy input needed!

Agreed on the common sense thing. But grey areas exist. The topic of Dita Von Teese is a grey area to me and some other male Loungers.

.

Check Bella Helles post above. And some topics are going to be grey. Can I suggest if you think they're grey you do exactly what you just did and start a thread in the general FL. Avoids conflict. ;)

It sure is. The topic was not Dita and her sexy lingerie. The conversation might have gone off topic but it was not inappropriate. Need I remind anyone that a couple of the ladies clarified Dita's wardrobe and the fact she has a fetish book for sale?
btw, I did not mind the piece of information at all. ;)
I know we are adults and can conversate as such with out being led out by the ear by our mommies. :eusa_doh:
If by chance the topic does go off on a tangent I have noticed a polite, "off-topic" comment works wonders. :)
