    UGH! Can't-believe-I -did-that HAT for sale; 7 3/4 100% beaver in Sand

I was making up a hat for a customer. I looked at the order slip which said a 2 3/4 inch brim, but somehow my brain went on auto pilot, I managed to set the jack and cut the brim to 2 1/2! So.... my lose your gain. The felt body is 100% Beaver in Sand. It is blocked to a 7 3/4 (62...

Very nice job capturing the original. Really like the felt color...almost heathered in appearance.

You might want to start first by communicating with Carol at hatshapers. To my understanding they make them on site and have ability to adjust. She may be persuaded to cast a LO for you. I know we talked at one point about creating a totally different block based on a request I was making...

You need to go larger or it will fit too tight once the leather hand band is in. I just measured my vintage 7 1/2 block and it actually measures 23 3/4. If you need a nice source for leather hat bands, JW Hats makes a beautiful quality one... I think he charges me about $4 for it.

I have several. They work well and it's nice to have the option to buy something inexpensive and off the shelf. They obviously aren't pinable and don't have rope grooves so I've used a wide piece of flat elastic pinned tight to itself to tie off crowns and bags of rice to set in crown top...

The latest...in my adventure of "milliner turns hatter"! Here is one I just finished for my father. It is 100% Beaver felt in dark grey, finished with vintage lighter grey ribbon. As this was my second "guinea pig", I had far more ease with the construction. I invested in a rounding...

Thanks fellas! I probably will have to take off the trim to finish the brim with the rounding jack. I thought I could get away with cutting it with scissors since I do it all_the_time with rabbit velour felt that I use in my ladies shop. I do a 1930's women's slouch fedora there and have...
