Thanks.
Guess I have been spending too much time in the "Outerwear" forum as of late.
As with most modern Stetsons, not exactly a lot of glowing reviews. Many owners mention apparent differences depending on felt color??? Oh well, I won't take a chance for $225. Maybe one of these days Akubra...
I would also be interested in anyone's firsthand experience with the "Premier Stratoliner". Is the hat of higher quality than most modern Stetsons as of late? Are the dimensions similar to the vintage Strats?
I also wear my Akubras in conditions that I wouldn't think of exposing my other (even more expensive) hats to. Just let let them dry off when wet/soaked and give them the occasional brushing and they are as good as new. IMO they represent a true bargain in today's felt hat market.
Interesting, thanks for the link! I hope this doesn't hamper their growth or sustainability in the future.
(I also really like the Aussie accent and never tire of hearing it :) )
I tell her that is the price of having a "trophy husband". :D
Actually I sometimes use similar tactics as many of you but after thirty years my wife knows me too well. The running joke in our family is "what is dad's new hobby". Started with firearms and knives, camping and backpacking...
DITTO!
I can't imagine spending more than $20 for a knit cap, but whatever makes your boat float. I have a 100% wool OD watchcap I got on ebay for $8 that filts the bill. For an acrylic cap I have had good luck with Carhartt - and they come in many colors.
While I am partial to my ANJ-4 and have no need for another sheepskin jacket, someone should snap this up. This is a fair price on a beautiful Eastman Irvin!
Bravo!
I also agree that fit is personal, as long as you are happy with it than that is all that matters. (Sort of like posting on a sports car forum and asking for other opinions about your car.) Perhaps many of the "fit police" comments come from people who have ridden motorcycles and are...
It's certainly hard to tell from some of the pictures which contracts are truly neater fitting. For example, all of the models that John Chapman (?) models on the Goodwear site look the same to me. I would like to see someone with an extreme "V" model one to get a better idea. Maybe A-2's aren't...
Bronco contract..............good to know. Thanks guys.
I have gone through a few moderate priced A-2 jackets and none of them really fit well, they are all baggy in the waist area and usually too long as well. I am 5'7"/210# with a 47" chest, 34" waist (32-33 pants) and have resigned myself to...
I noticed some wear on the left side of my FQHH Bootlegger after only a couple weeks. I try to adjust the seatbelt so it doesn't rub directly on my shoulder but it still abrades the leather somewhat on the left side. All part of "character building" in my book. Guess I should buy a right hand...
I concur that what conditions you can endure have the greatest impact. I am an old fart of 55 now and cannot tolerate cold quite as well as I used to, even though I still manage at least one winter camping trip (tent) each year.
I live in the snow belt capital of Ohio (and one of the true lake...
Butte, I believe you are thinking of "Aero Adventures" (drifterproductions). I have seen the "Aero Classics" models occasionally on ebay but have no information regarding their accuracy or quality.
