Western NC didn't get out of the 60's with clouds today so I was happy to get another wear out of this Stetson Fifteen 3X. It's one of my favorites for spring and fall - so comfy.
Thank you. Honestly, I think hemp has become my favorite straw. It’s perfect for hot and humid North Carolina summers where there’s a risk of a rain shower just about every afternoon. I’m telling myself I won’t be buying any more this season.
Thank you very much, Joe! Fortunately the hemp straw responded nicely to my skills (lack of) and high quality hat steamer (tea kettle). Seriously it was surprisingly forgiving.
Heading out for some morning errands in my Dobbs Hemp Rosebud. It's a recent purchase, but after wearing it a few times I decided didn't care much for its center dent. Thanks partly to the confidence I've gotten from this forum I put a little steam to it and made it something I like quite a bit.
Wearing the Hemp Straw “Open Strat-road-oliner” today. They must have been running short on Strat sweatbands the day mine was made. It’s actually a wonderful hat - brim snapped up or down.
Those are all fantastic looking. Just curious - did you coat them with a silicone protectant or is it something else? I've been thinking about using silicone spray on a couple of mine.
I've had a Stetson hemp Inwood in Bronze for a couple of weeks now, and I like it so much that I've ordered another one in Turquoise. The web pictures didn't do my current one justice, so I'm anxiously awaiting to see what this one looks like in person. Here's a picture from the web of the one...
Last summer I saw one of those ads selling "Stratoliners" by name, and using Stetson catalog pics like you said. All the comments were very positive too. It was crazy - everybody just gushing about how great they were. I posted a comment calling them out, asking if Stetson actually gave them...
Cold rain is continuing so what better than this heavy one from Lock & Co. It's a bit big (fits with Terry cloth sizer), nice but not perfect - one of the hats I wear on cold days when rain is in the forecast. I was glad to have it on today walking from the church building to my truck - it was...
I like it too - it's a nice touch. This is a strange (in a good way) hat for somebody who's into felt fedoras and also a Tilley fan. It's a felt fedora in every way on the outside but it's all Tilley on the inside.
It has turned cool and drizzly here in Western North Carolina, so I'm taking advantage of that. I decided to wear a couple of heavier felt hats this coming week while I can before the inevitable humid heat arrives. Today is one that I picked up recently, a Tilley fur felt fedora made in USA...
Stetson Latte Florentine Milan Straw - worn while eating extremely hot pickled peppers last night at a great ramen place here in town. Those peppers aren't on the menu but they know I like my ramen very spicy so they brought them out to me as an appetizer to get me started. The picture was a...
Very cool. I'd like to find a nice deal on a Whippet one day in my size from about that time period. I sold one this winter that was similar but didn't say Whippet anywhere inside. I loved it and kept it for a couple of years, but it was too small and hurt my head to wear. It had no size...
Tilapia. I usually prefer Flounder, Mahi, or Grouper in the fryer but it was slim pickings at the fish market. Dang good though. Paired with home made hush puppies.
