Thanks SBG. I'm relatively new to this and don't know a lot about Resistols in general, but some of you guys are wearing amazing hats worth a fortune. Those are top tier for sure! This one was a Goodwill find but I love it and it fits like it was custom made for my head.
I’m wearing a felt Resistol (have no idea about age) since it’s overcast and cooler today. I brought along my Conner beater rain hat in case we get heavy rain while I’m out. A couple of young employees at the hardware store came up to me and one said “Hey we just wanted to tell you that hat is...
I’m getting the most out of my straws while I can this year. I’m in Kure Beach NC with my trusty Stetson Latte. This hat wears well and is tough as a pine knot in the durability department. It’s aerodynamic too for beach breezes and my Jeep with the top off. Not exactly high end compared to...
It’s a fun debate though right? Long running threads seem to be normal here rather than the exception. I like being able to see the way they evolve over time.
I absolutely understand the feeling that it’s not right in a given situation because I’ve felt it often, but the older I get the less often I feel a need to stick to that old tradition. I’m admittedly not a traditionalist - just having recently discovered my love of those brimmed hats a few...
Village Hat shop sells terry cloth hat sizers with an adhesive backing that can stick on the leather sweat band. Since it doesn't have to go behind the sweat, there's no rippling. It also gives you some softness in the forehead area to soak up some of the sweat. You can pull it off and...
I love that. Tilleys are what I believe to be some of the most versatile hats out there. I bought an airflow LTM5 years ago for sun protection (still wear it) and now have six in different styles/colors. My latest one is a hemp in olive green that looks a lot like the one you're wearing.
I agree with that 100%. I know a few, and one is married to my niece. All great people who are slow to anger and loads of fun to be around. But - If something ever happened that required their training to kick in - I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of what they're dishing out.
Congrats - nice! I'm a long oval too, and I'm used to having to steam my hats into a longer shape to fit my head. Then behold - I recently stumbled onto an old extra long oval that fit so nicely I could almost hear angels sing. Those hats are magical for those of us with long noggins. I'll...
That’s for the most part the way I do it.
At a nice restaurant or at church I take it off when I’m seated, and put it back on when I stand to leave. I put it in the safest-looking spot while I’m there. I won’t risk it falling in the floor from a chair back if the back doesn’t look like it...
