Isn't a black suit a good shot at 'cocktail attire' whatever that means for men? It's dressy but not a tuxedo, and looks pretty sharp with a bow tie and pocket square.
"Midnight Blue" would be even better, yes?
To the question of the OP: Because I can easily imagine some kinship of common interest with the community here. It's a pleasant subject; the graphics are swank; the forums and threads are interesting and there is a ton of information and opinion that is fun and valuable here. It's a sort of...
Many of us would, and do, but according to some vendors, for example, www.atthefront.com -read the owner's rants in his site's 'rant archive' for many posts on this subject- there are many who profess a willingness to pay more but don't follow through. So, it's the usual story: businesses seek...
I buy a lot of kit and unforms for display from reenactor vendors and have caught on that there are varying degrees of fideltiy/fanatacism to 'authenticity' among reenactors of every era. Rollin, who is the proprietor of www.atthefront.com has a trove of very funny rants on this subject. Nothing...

http://unionmadegoods.com/
Some pretty nice stuff and priced like platinum. I suppose we might enjoy these things for a few years and...
I assume you are getting a vintage suit for $200 since a good quaility, new suit is going to cost a multiple of that, even off the rack. The rule of thumb on clothing fora seems to be to dry clean as little as possible because it does degrade the fabric at worst and gives it an unpleasant shine...
