Fantastic pick up for that price Jeff. Wish I'd seen it. Don't be afraid to give ita stretch if it's snug - just make sure you use a vintage stretcher.

    Akubra Overload

Felts will cope with a lot of heat and sweat Sam. Wearing Akubras all summer long is not uncommon here, especially in the country. Temperatures in an Aussie summer are quite often around the 100 degree F mark with humidity in the 90's. The hats cope fine. Generally, you'll see a mixture of felts...

    The School of Hard Knox

Nice stingy S. Beagles. At $15 you certainly didn't get burned at all. I have a similar shaped Churchill with Cav edge which dates from the early 60's. I'd guess yours is a similar vintage.

    The Dobbs Diner...

And speaking of the 5th Avenue thread, Brad...I dropped a couple of old street shots in there a while back that appear to capture the Knox hat shop...but spelled "Knox's" hats. Do you know if that's the Knox Shop?

    Akubra Overload

I've never seen one worn here Sam, except maybe as a fancy dress costume. I suspect anyone who wore one would be laughed outta town. Aussie's love to take the piss....er...pith.

Attorneys and Barristers of the Lounge

Yep BG, specialisation is the name of the game everywhere. Most lawyers here specialise in a particular area of law. The General Practitioner is a dying breed.

Attorneys and Barristers of the Lounge

Yes BG, I'm aware of your fused profession. Australia's situation varies depending on the jurisdiction. Here in Qld the two branches of solicitor and barrister remain, though all are now admitted as Australian lawyers and then decide which branch to join. In the recent past we were admitted as...

Attorneys and Barristers of the Lounge

Welcome back Bourbon Guy. I'm afraid I'm rather ignorant of the legal system over there, but speaking as one from another land, it would come as a helluva surprise if official utterances from Uncle Sam were anything but conservative. It appears from afar that everything's for sale over there...

Did Mallory every make a bad hat? And you got the best of 'em Mario. Love the b&w camera work too.

Strewth! You're not seeing the face of the Virgin in your enchilada too are you? I never could figure out why Mary hides in food products so much. Must be hungry I guess. But we digress...

    The Akubra Squatter

Elvis, I'll need to pop into my local hatshop (Distinctive Accessories in the Anzac Square building, cnr Edward & Adelaide Sts, Brisbane), grab a stylemaster and a squatter, wrestle them into open crown while at the same time fighting off the furious store manager (very helpful chap is Keith)...

    The Akubra Squatter

The narrower brimmed Squatter does look great, Chuck. It's called the Stylemaster.
