Good to see some activity on this thread.
Mario, I've been reasonably impressed with the results I've had with K2r. For the most part it's removed spot stains from my hats - as well as ties and carpet stains (I'm always dropping stuff on my ties!). Apart from the difficulty removing residue...
Yep BG - except I was too old and grumpy to stick around for 5 years. So I did extra subjects in summer and winter school (they offer them as 1 week intensives over summer/winter vacation), took on a private reseach subject and crammed in the occasional extra one during semester. I ended up...
James Morrison Orchestra & friends
Last night in Brisbane I saw James Morrison and Orchestra along with Doug Parkinson, Monica Trapaga and ably supported by vocal trio Tiara.
As a veteran concert goer I gotta say this is one of the best concerts I've been to in years. Treat yourself and go...
Well Bourbon...I was studying law part-time in the evenings, and so is Flyboy. All I can recall in that first semester is doing torts A, contracts A (each of those being 2 semester subjects) and something on legal reseach and writing. What else the full-timers did, I've no idea.
I think you're onto something there Salty. And I guess my point is that there are going to be several reasons why there seems to be more vintage pin-head lids around today than what we consider more 'average' sizes.
Well Randy, the reason for my hapless hatlessness is that I'm going out to dinner and a concert straight from work tonight - and trying to find somewhere safe to stow a lid at these venues is impossible.
So...my head is running around stark bollicking naked today.
I think that's a fair point Lefty. I'm not saying that mine is the exclusive reason, but merely one reason for the prevalence of small vintage lids (and not all the hats are in the expensive range).
What I find hard to believe is that in the space of barely one generation the average head has...
I think many of the smaller vintage hats were worn by youths who outgrew them and put them in storage long before they wore them out. That's one reason for their prevalence.
Well there ya go Flyboy. Exactly the same as first semester law schools here.
Only the cases will differ. You poor American souls will remain ignorant of such gems as "Donoghue v Stevenson" or "Carlill v the Carbolic Smokeball Company" - the staple food for generations of first year law...
G'day Tone and thanks for that. A few more subtle adjustments are needed - or maybe it's just a psychological adjustment I need to feel comfortable wearing a homburg.
Well of course you understand, Flyboy, that it all depends on which School you're attending.
Only kiddin'.
As one who also attended Law School part-time while holding down a full-time job and trying to raise kids as a single dad, I can fully understand the commitment it takes.
Welcome...
Thanks much Scott. I'm not all that comfortable with this homburg yet. It really is a foreign kind of hat when you're used to snapped down fedoras and flat caps. Maybe it's the whole 'off the face' thing leaving me feeling exposed.
This one, I think, wants to be a bit more casual yet. The...
Thanks Mr P. It's a work in progress this one. It has a particularly wide brim for a homburg which doesn't look right (on me at least) when flat. I agree that the maroon ribbon lends it a jaunty look, so I'm going with that and steering it away from the traditionally formal look of a homburg. A...
Remember this Tex/Mex Wormser Homburg?
Well I've been poking and pulling, steaming and bending this sucker till today it looks like this:
It's not there yet - but it's getting there. I want to give that very wide brim a bit more curl.
