I stayed in Paris for about a month this past summer with a very good friend of my family's. We went to his parent's house every weekend or so for their version of a cookout.

I like your modification...the first one seems completely disgusting. *yucky* The second one seems like it would be lighter, stronger, letting the flavors speak rather than being sickeningly sweet.

For vintage, I recommend going to Google and typing in "Lower East Side vintage." There are tons and tons of tiny places, just walk around down there and keep your eyes peeled!
