What is the story on the decals seen on some Flight Jackets ? Were they issued already on the Jacket ? I have an A-11 Flight helmet that has a small one applied. Can one find repro's ?
Jiminsocal my nephew is a SEABEE stationed out on Coronado Island he told me the reason they don't starch was because it gets picked up on Night Vision. How I don't know but that's what he tells me he works with the Marines so I goess he's right. Thunderw21 my frenchies were also a pain to break...
60 yrs ago they would have kicked your butt if you did not earn them. So I feel wierd wearing mine in public but I do like wearing my French Army double buckle boots. They look similar to the late war combat boots that replaced the Corcorans. The price was great too at the time 30+ is what I paid.
Scooter pies !, Screaming Yellow Zonkers, Army men , Sting Ray and Schwinn 10 speed bikes , Cox gas powered Airplanes (the ones you flew in a circle) and 25 cent a gallon gas................
1. "The Hills have eyes" the original 70s version (disgusting)

A-2 Jacket mostly, I'll wear an M-41 HBT hat when I work out so I can get it all salty and broken in. Occasionally when I smoke cigars outside I'll wear a WWII Impressions Jumpsuit Jacket. Other than that no most people will just see an "Army" jacket. Most of my Jackets have insignia on them...
The Navy version of the B-24 was the PBY Coronado my friends father flew in one as a bombadier. His dad remembers landing on Tarawa after the battle he secured some neat souvenirs. His dad and crew were chased off by some Marine Officer who said the Island wasn't secured. His dad also remembers...
That's awesome ! How can one not like the "Jug", people don't realize that the Liberator was the true workhorse of the AAF. It was said the Liberator was not a good plane to ditch in though.
Keep cars on the ground thank you. The way people drive cars around here imagine a 16 yr old with a Flying car ! I would take the Mach 5 though or maybe Gigantor but I guess cartoons don't count.
It just doesn't seem right unless its the old Pullmans. Visions of the Little Rascals, Laurel and Hardy and the Three Stooges come to mind. And of course the WWII troop movements. I know there are a couple of restored Locomotives down here but they are the 1800 types. I took my first real train...
Funny about Spam though in WWII we brought it to the Brits and the Hawaiians and they loved it. I understand they still love it. I have Hawaiian friends who tell me they serve SPAM in some 5 star restaurants. In an article years ago I read how Hormel I believe found a WWII vintage can. It was...
I'm with Caroselvic Bob Willis and the Texas Playboys is what I grew up with.
San Antonio Rose and Rolly Polly are the songs I still hum. Don Burgett mentioned in his book "As Eagles Screamed" a man playing San Antonio Rose on his guitar before the D-Day jump.
The Italian campaign was a tough one no doubt. It was more mountainous than Europe, it really chewed up the Allies. I can't help to feel sorry for that theater of Operation like the Pacific it was overshadowed by D-Day.
