    WW II movies

Bridges at Toki Ri Bill Holden as a Naval aviator flying jets off a carrier during the Korean war. Like the others I mentioned, gripping war drama without glorifying war. Excellent and underrated. Oh yeah, you get to look at Grace Kelly, too.

    The A-2 review

I agree with Patterson and Michaelson. I've never seen a "distressed" jacket that looked right. Wear it all the time, in all sorts of weather and it'll age naturally before you know it.

A few of my all time favorite war movies: Twelve O'clock High Das Boot The Bridges at Toki Ri Bridge on the River Kwai

    The A-2 review

Imahomer, my .02 as someone who has a fair amount of A-2 replica experience--for $50, Sharpetoys "done good." That type of jacket will run $200 or more new. And for $50, it's practically disposable. But at new prices, you'll be much happier buying a good replica (from Flightsuits, for...

    Westerns

Speaking of Henry Fonda and Westerns, I happened across "Once Upon a Time in the West" last night while flipping channels. One of my all time favorite Westerns (Spaghetti Division). Great casting against type of Fonda, as one of the meanest, nastiest characters ever in a Western.

    The A-2 review

I agree, Marc has a slight bias toward Eastman. Maybe he just knows more about them. Eastman does make tremendous jackets, though a few other companies (Aero and Real McCoy come to mind) are just as good. And for the money, the Flight Suits Historical A-2 is excellent. In any event, Acme...

    Nick Berg

A contrarian opinion, for the sake of discussion (plus it happens to be my sincere belief): First, the U.S. media has many faults, it's true; a penchant for sensationalism probably the worst. But I would be willing to bet that the news we get is the least censored and most factual in the...

    I finally did it!!

That's beautiful, Art. I had been meaning to ask you how that was coming along. I like your idea of "absorbing" the essence before you lay hands on it. The maroon ribbon looks good, too.

    B-24 & B-17

If any of you guys have never seen these planes when they come around, you're missing out. You get to walk around inside the plane, take pictures. Even if you don't go for a flight (I didn't) it's quite a memorable experience. I've seen Aluminum Overcast (the B-17) twice. Absolutely...

    Post New Hats Here!

The first hat is great (even without ear flaps). Even as we speak, it is enroute back to Art for a slight size adjustment. I'll post pics when I get it back.

    Post New Hats Here!

Robert, I'm ordering my next one from you with ear flaps. Tell 'em to start weaving.

Is that a pen in your pocket?

I vote for "inside the jacket pocket." In my opinion, nothing should be in the outside breast pocket but a properly coordinatd and folded handkerchief. Plus, it makes for a nice flourish to reach into the inside pocket for your pen.

    The Making of Casablanca

Happened to pick up a book the other day called, "The Making of Casablanca." It's a new edition of a book originally published in 1992 entitled "Round up the Usual Suspects." I'm in the middle of reading it and am finding it immensley enjoyable. It is richly researched, well-written and...

Joni Mitchell & the golden era

So that's what she was singing about. I always wondered if she was referring to a specific incident or society in general. What were thinking when they tore that place down?

    Indy to Bogie?

Thank you, gentlemen. As usual, you have been most helpful. Ebay is probably the way to go. I'm between a 7 1/4 and 7 3/8 and there seem to be a fair number available in those sizes. One related question: Is there any reliable way to "date" a hat (not exactly, but maybe a particular...
