Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I'm sure the USPS does have a good delivery rate when considered as a percentage of the number of pieces they deliver. However, I'm just as sure that lost mail and botched deliveries occur far more than people know.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

$570.00 would make me a lot more than just pissed off. I think it is the Post office's job to play detective on your behalf. When it involves possible fraud and scams using the USPS. If it was me, I would not let it go.....That's too much money. and, if it is a scam...there are others out...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Not much I can say or add except to empathize with your situation. Back in May of this year I had 3 buys in a row within 1 1/2 weeks that went bad. And, got no help or satisfaction from sellers or ebay. So I can understand how this situation effects you and your wife. At the risk of...

That is fortunate. That gives one a lot more flexibility and opportunity in buying older hats and turning some would-be bad buys into winners.

Do you stretch and re-flange yourself or do you send it off to someone?

I also think brown is more versatile and more plentiful.

Ask a question, get an answer

Thanks Rabbit.... that was my thinking. the weight of the hat sitting on the crown for a couple of months would cause a mis-shaped crown.

Ask a question, get an answer

Living in Florida I have more straws and milans than fur felt hats. More hats than hat boxes. My question is about storing straws and milans. What would be the best way to store the ones without boxes? Being they would be sitting up for a couple of months...should they be set on the brim...

Yep...I think the "brown-ness" kept the price down. Even though I think the actual hat would be a much more attractive brown than the photo.

All You Need to Know About Hat Etiquette

I am old enough to be a Viet Nam Vet...in fact I am a Viet Nam Vet. And, I'm hard of hearing. [huh] What I have observed is a break down in respect for EVERYTHING...including other people. Kids are no longer taught respect for traditions or respect for others as it was once demanded of...

Best option for for protecting fedora from heavy rain & snow?

I agree with these guys.... If you don't want something messed up....dont put it in harms way. When I was growing up I didn't have a lot of clothes but, I did have good clothes, school clothes and play clothes. My mother always told me when going out to play....take off your school...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Looks like a nice Whippet to me :thumb: I got a Whippet on ebay with the same liner 3 weeks ago in a Chocolate brown color for $32.50. Looks to be the same as yours except the liner on yours in cleaner than the one I got. I wanted to see and hold one for myself. I knew when I bought...

    Post New Hats Here!

That liner logo looks like a combination of Mallory and Stetson with a little something else thrown in the make-up...... I also have a mallory Ten and it has the same, or as best I can make out, circle figures across the top of the logo in the liner. But, that's the only part that matches...

    Are Knox hats pretty common?

That is an interesting and useful piece of information. My first fedora, from Goodwill and the beginning of my fedora wearing, was a knox Premeir with Madison Avenue beside the Knox logo on the sweatband. I always thought that was the model name.

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

That may be true, Alan But, the differing opinions, views and input from others, I think, still has value. Given the praise that Borsalino hats receive. My interest was in the views of owners of newer and older Borsalino hats of the degree of decline (if any) in craftsmanship of Borsalino...

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Thanks for the input Bond and -30- Do you think there is as much difference in Borsalino quality of felt and craftsmanship as some of the other long time brand names newer vs vintage hats? Such as Stetson or Dobbs.

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

A question for Borsalino owners. How does a new, last 5 years, Borsalino compare in quality and felt to a Borsalino from the 60's, 50's, 40's ?

An Intro to Hat Terminology: A Fedora Lounge Guide

Thanks for the info Art. Late 50's early 60's sounds like a cost cutting thing by hat makers. Could be a reason why this material disappeared. It was no longer in demand and longer profitable. But, with air conditioning everywhere and people spending less time outside, maybe the material...
