Mike, I bet that is a really nice color in person.
When you say "vintage" here, what time frame would you be referring to?
Do you know if that type of size tag (frayed) helps to place a time frame?
I have seen several of these 'frayed' tags but, it's still confusing to me about any time frame.
Hey, good thing you got the balding gene on both sides....
going bald on just one side of the head would make your hat fit funny... lol
When my hair began thinning (male patterned baldness) I just started buzzing it myself. After a weekly buzzing....I'm down to my true hat size.
I didn't notice any thing "real" stingy like 1 1/2" OR 1 7/8"...
But, I think I saw Geraldo Rivera back behind the right shoulder of the guy with white hair and no hat. lol
I would think if these guys were asked, back then, to put on one of the 60's or newer stingy brims they would ask...Can I pull this off!
A wide brim back then was "in". It didn't look out of place on any size head or shape of face.
I'm a small guy with a small head :ohwell:.....when...
I had a similar situation back in June of this year. I missed the end of an auction, forgot about it. While deleteing old items from my watched list about 30 days later I saw the listing. Emailed the seller asked if the hat was still for sale and how much they wanted for it.
They emailed...
I bought a ebay vintage homberg awhile back and it arrived with a surprise sweatband issue.
About 4 inches of the sweatband stitches were gone.
I would like to attempt to repair this myself, as there is not a hatter anywhere within driving distance of my city. Well, except one hat shop...
BUMMER !!
Just had to open another case on ebay for an item not received.
I think some sellers just get pissed because their item went too cheap (in their eyes) and blame the buyer that won the item.
If a hat was listed before Monday from N.J. I think I would email the seller and ask if the hat is still in the same condition.
Some places in N.J. and N.Y. you may not get an answer for a while.
Thanks for the input guys.
In looking through some older threads where the Marathon comes up. It looks like the answer is in comments about the time frame of a hat where the photos are no longer visible.
I have a Johnnyphi Lee fedora that has similar swirl lines as the first liner...
Which of these 2 Marathon liners would be newer?
Maybe the Aridex tag would show the first one to be newer.
Also, I have seen The "M" liner in red, blue and gold. Would this be a method of rating quality?

An EXCELLANT contribution to the Lounge, Josh. :eusa_clap :clap2:
The photos make the data so much more interesting, enjoyable and illustrative.
Do you have a speculation as to why the crown height was dropped from the tags.
Most of my "Nice Hat" comments seem to come from people that feel they have to say something because they got caught staring at my hat as if it were a odd thing to be wearing. I live in baseball hat country.
What seem to be the most sincere and spontaneous comments come from younger people...
