*Interesting side note....the original patent number for the Carter Detachable sweatband in the U.S. was 1977983, however the printing on the Stephen Stetson most definitely says 1877983. That patent number belongs to explosion chamber for Holtzwarth Gas Turbine Co. I am unsure if this mistake...
thanks Manfred and Mike.
Mike, that one is actually my 'Go To' hat in the summer.
I guess because of the light color and muli-color pug matches anything.
Nice SS, Josh. I have a SS Madison with a 1 1/16" ribbon, 2 3/8" brim with a 3/8" brim binding. I like the wider ribbon on yours better and the liner is nicer in yours. The trimmed down brim gives it the appearance of one Cagney's old tall crown style hats.
My SS also has the Carter...
Welcome Howardeye,
I wouldn't put to much stock in the "Dork" comment....
Unless you have an unusually large number of Dorks attempting to befriend you when you wear this hat and glasses. :)
My experience was what I liked and what I thought was more suited for me when I first...
This may be a stupid question....But, it won't be the first stupid thing I ever asked....so....
These hat stands look to be very long oval. Could be just the photo angle, however if they are this oblong in shape would not that effect a hat's shape that is being stored on the stand. Sort of...
Thanks Mike, In looking at the different color logos I had in mind the Lee hat with their Blue label, gold label, black label and so on.
I am looking at a Borso now that has the same logo but in brown. It's not in hand so I can't look at the label under the liner or get a good look at the...
Would this hat be the same time frame as Mike's late 40's early 50's ?
If it has a size tag under the sweat, what does it look like?
Is there something different about this hat that it has a gold logo and Mile's has a green logo?
Now that's one brash arrogant Larva !!! Right out in the open posing for photos and thumbing it's nos.... :eeek: :mad3:
Opps, No thumb and no nose....
Well....still brash anyway....
Actually that's one heck of an educational photo.
I agree with the others....check it...
If the prices are right on these you might consider buying them and offering them for sale yourself. Either in the Lounge classifieds or on ebay.
Just a thought.
I did finally find an old Lounge thread about Borso's that had some more helpful info in it.

Using the photos of your hat you posted and some of these clues is making this a little clearer. At least I think I...
Looks more like a novelty party hat or a cheap hat sold at events where they would be worn one time.
I can't believe anyone would actually put this on and think it looked good.... But, I can see it being sold at certain out door events like a festival, concert, flea market or sports event...
Thanks Mike,
Reading through these threads can sometimes add to my confusion. it seems my research and comprehension skills are not what they used to be.
I have also been looking for a reference to the different color Borsalino logos as to whether it indicates levels of quality or something...
