Ooooh - it fits!!! The hips are bigger than listed. They were listed as 32" on the size chart and mine are more like 35", but the bust and waist are pretty much spot on. There is a little give in the fabric but no actual stretch as such.
I LOVE IT!
Here's the front:
And the back...
You know what - I've just looked and it's not lined at all - I have no idea why I typed that in the first place! Sorry Smuterella!! But it's not really itchy wool - it's quite soft. You'd probably need a full slip anyway though, so it didn't ride up.
The quality is much better than I was expecting - the fabric is a heavy-weight wool and it's all lined. I'm not a seamstress (or even a decent sewer) so can't give you any details on types of seams or anything but it all feels sturdy and well-made. It's nicely darted on the body and has...
Yup - FABULOUS link Tess. Isn't it interesting to see how much older models were in those days - they look as if they are in their 30's. How wondrous! Very inspiring stuff.
Lolita - it looks LOVELY! I love the shape you got with the comb and the curls are FAB! Agree, they need to be tighter to recreate the L.C. look but on their own merit they're gorgeous and I'm very envious :)
My measurements were pretty close to the size chart listed although I may be squeezing it over my hips a bit (my cheapy girdle may at last come in handy!). My concern (and I guess yours as well - you're a tall gal aren't you?) is the length of the waist, but it actually looks pretty good just...
Eeek! My Bettie Page dress arrived from pinup-parade.com and it's SOOOOO beautiful! I picked it up from the sorting office on my way to work so I haven't been able to try it on yet, but it looks good. It's such great quality - the wool fabric is gorgeous. I cannot wait to get it home tonight...
I applaud this thread on my feet! I just turned 35 and it's awesome!
I will keep dyeing my hair any colour I fancy.
I will wear my high-waisted jeans and pants without fear of looking mumsy.
I will remember that 'older' does NOT equal 'uglier' just as 'younger' does not automatically equal...
I ordered one of these stunning babies from pinup-parade.com on friday:
I cannot wait for it to arrive. I'm just praying it won't be too short-waisted for me. It's sooooo pretty! I don't normally buy repro stuff much but this one was just too good to turn down, and perfect for the colder...
I've been using an epilator for a few months now as I was hoping it would reduce my leg hair growth a bit. It hurts but it's totally tolerable - however I get horrific ingrowing hairs from it. I bought some tendskin which supposedly gets rid of them. It's basically alcohol but they charge you...
SarahLouise, my fringe is quite a bit shorter than yours as I've only been growing it out for a few months but I always put mine in a roller, rolled backwards away from my face. That would make sure the roots at least were heading away from your forehead! The rest of it can then coil off to the...
I just popped into the Richmond branch of Gap and the lovely brown hi-waisted trousers posted by Lyburnum a few pages back (not the navy sailor ones) are now reduced to £9.99!!!! So I snapped myself up a pair. Also, Oasis have some really cute wide-leg sailor pants for £50...
Thanks Lolita... I did try to do it that way, but I could only get such a small amount of hair into the clip, I think that's why I got the ridges. I do kind of like the ridges, but it certainly wasn't what i was aiming for!!
OK, here are the results:

After brushing:
After further teasing and spraying:
After work this evening with some more teasing and a bit of curling tong work:
