I think most people have one foot slighter shorter than the other.

Here is a better photo of my monks. Funny enough, this is the exact pair from the Lattanzi website that l now own. Have wanted these for over a year. They fit good too.

Show my Shoes - It has been a long time since I shared shoes I have been sport'n. I will work to do better. Shoe care of some vintage shoes are on my list. I did do shoe care on my gym shoes recently.

Yesterday for some work shenanigans I wore a modern pair of Alden Long wing tips, gunboats. The alpine grain makes the shoes work well with all things casual.

Great collection Eric, and what a reassuring post. My shoes live at the bottom of the wardrobe on shoe tree racks. What I am not going to tell is how many racks there are. I am not in the Imelda Marcos league, but I do have much more than I need.

Seen like this on their rack they tend to hide each other.

Not a bad thing I guess but here's a few seen more clearly:

This place (TFL) is a bad influence, a couple short years ago I moved from Hawaii to the mainland. All I owned were slippers (flip flops)

This past week I now own some nice oxfords...

Very attractive they are too. You are right about the influence of The Lounge, the posts and photos have the ability to cause addiction..................................Tell me about it!

We used to have a member here by the name of SimonC. He went on to establish his own company: Cathcart London (https://www.cathcartlondon.com/). Whilst here he put up a photo of 1920's Hollywood royalty Douglas Fairbanks Jnr. & Mary Pickford. Look at the fellow's shoes. Simon reproduced them.

Has anyone noticed the popularity of light grey? It has reached the stock of a certain cordwainer, and ultimately, my wardrobe.

Allen Edmonds are dynamite shoes. Congrats! Those are some sharp shoes.

My leather shoes are more comfortable than my "work" gym shoes. I imagine they provide more support than your slides or slippers. I recall vividly on Sundays when my brothers and my Dad would be shinning our shoes for the upcoming week, before watching football games and my Dad would call his Gunboats (longwing shoes) "Positions of Authority." My gunboats will always be "Positions of Authority."

Congrats sir.

Wow! Those are gorgeous. The design and stitch work are superb.

Yes, l love these. Even as a kid l wanted amazing shoes that are like works of art, but it took me 40 years to eventually achieve that dream. I feel very fortunate. I've had Vass, Edward Green and John Lobb, but none of them begin to compare to Lattanzi. Thanks for your kind words.

These are some of the most amazing shoes l have ever bought. Have wanted a pair like these for over 20 years. They are so rare and hard to get, so l couldn't believe my luck when l finally received them on Christmas eve. I can't stop looking at it, the shoe looks AMAZING in person.

Can only post these, all my other files are too large to post for some reason.

In the lower cost, casual shoe world, they are no longer a 500 lb gorilla. Still, a gorilla, nonetheless. In the modern world of the internet, online influencers despise them. To be fair, I think that online influencers are also paid to promote competing products. They have to make a video to downgrade a competitor, in order to promote whomever is paying them.

What online influencers do not like, are the things that have made them desirable. The leather is corrected. They sand down and remove the surface blemishes, dye it through, then apply a laminate coating to protect it. It's now more resistant to moisture from the elements, road debris, and the daily scuffs and scratches from everyday wear and tear. It's easier to clean and maintain a shiny appearance. So of course you're not getting premium leather with a special tannery process. The welt is in the style of a storm welt, where instead of being flat, it rises up the side of the boot to help seal it. It is a PVC, which is more wear resistant, and flame welded to the PVC sole. No moisture will penetrate because the welt and sole are melted together. The proprietary soles give you a bouncy step. Obviously you do not get a hand stitched, welted shoe with resoleable veg tan leather soles, so treasured by aficionados of fine footwear.

The funny thing is that the online influencers who put down Dr. Martens, aren't trying to steer consumers towards something extremely well built, or a luxury brand. In the retail landscape, Dr. Martens shares a piece of the market with Timberland. Boots that look like work boots, but are not really built to be a work boot. Average price without sales or coupons is about $200. Under $200, you get the boots from Asia. Over $200, you get Made in England. You can Google search for "why Dr. Martens suck", and come up with a lot of content. Same platforms will influence you with the obvious facts that Timberland are cheap leather, injection molded, with a fake welt. But the content creators are not shilling for a $2,000+ pair of boots with red soles on the bottom. They're trying to sell you a Thursday Boot. The message is "don't buy Dr. Martens & Timberland junk, buy Thursday junk."

I have a $70, bought on sale, pair of functional boots which are completely comfortable. I can do most things without worrying about damage. I can actually ride my motorcycle with these. Not $700 boots, like Viberg or Alden, meant to be owned for many years. Which pains you with every Nick and scratch, and you spend a fortune on maintenance. It's like comparing microwaveable melamine plates to bone China. I bought cheap boots, and I'm wearing them.

Nothing wrong with Dr Martens Made in England line. I own a few pairs. They look good and are comfortable for walking all day around the city if needed.
