    Suitable Short Hair-Do for a 12yo Girl...

I had pretty long hair growing up. I always slept in braids and wore it in braids and pony/pig tails a lot. And I don't remember a lot of tangling. I slept in sponge rollers too. My story is actually the opposite. I wanted to cut my hair into the bi-levels that were so popular, about mid...

    Vintage Youth Fashion

Have you seen Kit Kittredge: An American Girl? I thought they did an excellent job with the ladies dresses, so I'm sure the kids outfits were well -researched. Here's a few pictures:

Quirky things that people have done 'in the day' that people would gasp at today..

My grandmother used to shave her legs by lighting newspapers on fire and running it along her skin. I never witnessed it, but my mother told me about it. This would have been is the 50s-60s. She was a single mom with 10 kids, so maybe she was trying to save money? I don't know, but it sounds...

    High School Homecoming/Mums!

Circa 1988 I was scanning a bunch of old pictures and remembered this thread. Here's a picture from Junior year prom. We wore these to school on Friday and then to the game Friday night. This one is really not a very big one either. It was always- let's see how big they can get. I know senior...

    Show us your vintage hats!

That's a great idea! I actually have a new navy dress I got in a trade that I haven't tried with anything yet. It needs a belt, so maybe a red belt would tie it together? ANd I'll let you know about the hats ;)

    Show us your vintage hats!

DPD, that really looks amazing! Do you have a dress to match? Here's my new red one. I saw it at an antique mall, stuck in the corner looking so lonesome :) The booth had a 50% off sign so I investigated. When I saw the NRA tag, I knew I had to have it at only $12. But girls, I now have 4...

    Storing your hats

I have a mixture of old hat boxes and new. I have them stacked in the corner of my guest room, as I have no extra closet space either. I have bought the newer ones at Tuesday Morning and Michaels. The older ones you can usually find at antique stores. But I can usually fit several in one box.

Vintage Beauty & Fashion Scans on Flickr

Great Amy, thanks for sharing :) I posted a lot of 30s scans on my flickr. I'm at 194 and got a notice that at 200 I'd have to upgrade to Pro? So I'm probably not going to add anymore, but you might keep that in mind when choosing which ones to post. Here's mine too :)...

How do I hide a scar on my face?

I too have a scar on my face. I had a cyst in my cheek, and I too had it done by a plasic surgeon- good thing you thought of that! I will say compared to mine, yours looks great for only being a couple weeks out. I think it took at least 6 months before the pinkness went away. And your...

    JC Penney: American Living

Yes, it is Ralph Lauren. I'm a big JCP shopper, but I haven't bought any of the women's clothing yet. My husband bought some dress shirts on clearance for about $9 but they haven't worked into the rotation yet. They have some beautiful home items too. I've got my eye on a red and white quilt :)
