My Grandma grew up on as next to youngest of 10! She set her hair in pin curls every night and used to set mine when I was a little girl with strips of brown paper from grocery sacks. But? She always wore her lipstick and had her hair done. I need to get some photos so I can post them!
Just want to add how jealous I am! What a fantastic opportunity. I'm getting ready to overhaul some of my look. I wore a gorgeous red lippie with heavy black liner and people loved it. However, feel hair is too short right now. Need to try and pin curl.
My hair is a mousy nasty gray with silver streaks that are gorgeous. I keep it close to my natural blonde (which was more white than blonde and too damaging). I so hope my hair will go completely silver. My Grandma had gorgeous salt and pepper hair that went to the most lovely shade of white.
I found affordable Cashmere Bouquet in the US. Drugstore.com http://www.drugstore.com/cashmere-bouquet-mild-beauty-bar-soap-classic-fragrance-4-oz/qxp16631?fromsrch=cashmere+bouquet
and? just placed an order. I'm a happy gal.
Pine tar soaps
I haven't posted in a long time, but if you're in the US and looking for pine tar soaps, check out Grandpa's Pine Tar soaps. http://www.grandpabrands.com/catalog1280.html
I'm also looking for a source for coal tar for y'all. I'm going to Amish country and will see what I can...
I pay to have mine tweezed. They are so blonde they are invisible, so I will confess that I tend to forget about them. Until I realize I have too much to tint when I am doing my makeup!
I had to quit doing them myself as I have a heavy hand and overtweeze. As long as I don't look like...
I am in the middle of transforming my blonde hair to red. It hasn't been red in 5 years and I feel part of me is missing! So, while I am not really happy with the color it is right now, we added depth to it so that it would have time to rest and settle before the big red.
I will be using...
My Grandmother is the voice in my head. Whether it is how to act, what to say, or how to do things. She has lived a good long life and is so well-respected. I learned from her and am working to pass those same values along to my son.
LOL. I married a boy from the Beltway area. He moved to Charlotte and I moved from my tiny town of Union Mills to be with him. I do like it though. We are in a quiet area and I do have access to some decent vintage shops :)
That it is. I grew up in Rutherford Co., not that far from Nebo! It is a small world, because he probably did. I am lucky I still have him around to tell me about things like that. Like to pick him up, take him on long drives and he tells me all about different areas.
I am in the Charlotte area and we get vegetables delivered now, but are also starting to receive dairy delivery! I decided to wait until it cools off due to the extreme heat and to test their containers. But, I love it. I can walk outside, get my insulated cooler, and bring in milk, yogurt, etc...
I wax my legs, but only in the summer time and to my knees. My skin is very sensitive and just can't do anymore. However, I do shave the rest of the time. Armpits and legs. Brows? Waxing breaks me out, so I get plucked.
I am pondering dermaplaning with a light chemical peel for some old sun...
@ Jasmine Jolene, That is a gorgeous color. Our skin coloring is similar, except I am blonde and blue eyed. Heading to the MAC counter to check it this week!
Mine is not much longer than Miss Hannah's and I find that I can still do a good bit with it. Need to photograph when it's fixed, but I am in the middle of a color transformation and so everyone will have to wait another 5 weeks.
Pin curls are fun with my hair at this length.
Again, like Lizzie and Sofia said, I perfer to keep my eyes as neutral as possible. Nice brows (mine are so blonde they are white) that I tint, mascara, a little liner and a neutral, usually eggshell, shadow for me.
