    Feeling Good vs. Looking Good

I get what you're saying and last year, I went through a horrible depression. One day, I looked in the mirror and realized I just didn't like looking at myself. I had stopped caring for myself. It was hard realization. That day, I did powder, mascara and lipstick. And I did a little bit each...

    Cologne and perfume

I'm looking for a new perfume that says "me". However, nothing has peaked my interest. I'm turning 40 this fall and want something that says "mature" but not "grandma".

head-on collision: old car vs new

I tangled with a '66 Chevy in a '97 Ford Mustang. She pulled out in front of me, her son was standing up in the backseat and I turned to hit the ditch. Hit the side of the car. Totaled mine, gave me a severe case of whiplash, while hers had a dent. That car was a beast.

Customer Service in the old days versus now.

Top's Shoes in Asheville, NC, still gives amazing customer service, as does Chick-Fil-A restaurants. I worked retail for many years and when my son was younger, working part time in a bookstore. Had I been on commission? It would have been amazing, because I still believe in customer service and...

You Big Softy! - Your Favourite Soft Drinks

Me too. I also love grape soda and had the original Pepsi recipe when we were in New Bern, NC last year (home of Pepsi). If it was still produced, I'd be in trouble.

    Vintage Coffee Makers

I have both. My Grandmother only uses a percolator. I'm surprised I don't have hair on my chest from the coffee my great-uncle made in his. I also agree with Tom. I found mine at Goodwill for just a few dollars.

    Save Saville Row!

My 11 year-old, for all of mine and my husbands love of all things vintage, his exposure to it, and our mutual love of Saville Row, to say he doesn't get why we were discussing this with so much..venom, is an understatement. He was like "their new, they will breathe fresh air in". When we tried...

met an old guy that claimed to be a WWII 8th Air Force veteran?

My great-uncle, Builo, went in at sixteen. All of my other great-uncles were enlisted in different branches and he wanted to be there with them. My Great-Granny lived on the family farm and they were ten miles to the nearest phone or telegraph in those days, so there was no way for her to rat...

    Show us your vintage home!

I've been on this thread for hours. We're house hunting in the Charlotte, NC area (where people destroy anything of historical reference and value) and haven't found anything yet. Seeing all of your lovely homes gives me energy to keep at it. Love them all. So gorgeous.

    1920s Hair Nets

I did one better and called Grandma. According to her, the fringe shape was a hair net that covered your bangs so they wouldn't get messed up, with the regular netting.
